A list for XP
More because I didnt want to clog up the other post with useless info so here is my plan. Im hoping people can help with the plan se we can have a mega alphabetised list for the Wiki. Our own list of XP for levelable weapons. If everyone kills 10 different mobs a day and works out the XP we will have a list... easy
I killed 10 of each and averaged them out as some had 1 or 2 xp difference
Lich - 53 xp
Harpy - 23 xp
Fan Dancer - 39 xp
Drake - 32 xp
Giant serpent - 42 xp
Earth Ele - 20xp
Ettin - 17 xp
Headless one - 8xp
Mongbat - 3gp
Yomotsu Warrior - 65 xp

Re: A list for XP
I did notice the differnce in killing mobs but I guess the difference wasn't as varied as I was killing mongbats and you were killing minotaurs lol.
I still think the average of 10 will give at least a decent representation of what mobs are worth.
Already we have 20 odd mobs. I am happy to collate them all at the end and it will give us not only a guide, but also a represtation of how flawed the information or indeed the levelling system is.

Re: A list for XP
Is this experience for a person's title or is it experience for leveling a weapon? If a weapon it all depends on what level its at. If weapon is at a high level you gain fewer points for killing say a lich than if the weapon is at a lower level.

Re: A list for XP
I beleive that this is incorrect Highroller. I just tested with three different weapons on Balrons:Highroller wrote:Is this experience for a person's title or is it experience for leveling a weapon? Level 12, balron kill: 74 xp
Level 52, balron kill: 73 xp
Level 99, balron kill: 77 xp
The slight differences are probably due to the monsters having different strenght.

If this is the case this might be a waste of time lolHighroller wrote:Is this experience for a person's title or is it experience for leveling a weapon? If a weapon it all depends on what level its at. If weapon is at a high level you gain fewer points for killing say a lich than if the weapon is
FYI though I just killed 10 rune beetles and averaged out at 96 xp with a level 20 bow, so I think we may still be good to go.

Re: A list for XP
Well I may be out of date but I swore when i first started with a lvl 1 bow an ancient wyrm give some HUGE amount of experience some 2000 and later at a higher level it was much less. Granted I could be misremembering or they may have changed that also when they changed it so a kill with druid spells didn't give experience. I haven't leveled a weapon in a while so like I said I may be out of date.

Re: A list for XP
The amount of experience you get for killing a monster is determined by a formula. This formula was once changed to take the token rating from the monster, so the amount of experience you get is proportional to the amount of tokens it drops, but i think there were some problems with it, so i have changed that back a few days later.
Keep in mind that you only get the points proportional to how much damage you did with the weapon. If you kill something small and use only your weapon, you will get 100% of the points it would give. If you kill something much stronger, but use spells or pets along with your weapon, and let's say you only do 10% of the damage with your weapon, then you will only get 10% of the experience points that the monster would give if you killed it completely with your weapon.
This was changed a while back, since there were several people who macroed spells at a spawn, holding a levelable weapon in their hand, and most of it was done AFK.
There's a small glitch here, it's that some/most special moves will not register as melee damage. It's something i plan to fix but no ETA.
As for the formula for calculating experience given from a monster, well at first sight it seems pretty reasonable, though there's definitely monster that would need to give less or more, considering how hard they are to kill. The only way to fix that would be to set to every different monster exactly how much points it would give (plus minus some random amount), but with some 1000 monsters out there, this would be very time consuming for very little gain. So my only advice would be that you kill things that give the most exp... even if i change the formula, there will still be monster that give an unfair low amount of points. And, the formula will remain a secret

Re: A list for XP
Can we get the list of which special moves that aren't counting as melee damage, pretty please? I'd hate to spend hours "thinking" i'm gaining exp, and not realize that when i used a certain move, it wasn't counting.
Re: A list for XP
I dont see a need for a list for that, I mean... try killing something with a 'special move' and count the xp, then try killing the same type of monster again without using a 'special move' and count the xp........

Re: A list for XP
Ok, I can go and test the 2 weapon styles for each of the levelable weapons i use. and then the next person..and the next, 'til all 400+ people on the shard go and run the same test, just to see what is broken. We aren't game testers and shouldn't have to be. when something that is supposed to work does not, the info should be available.
Re: A list for XP
Do not use "special moves" when trying to level a weapon, and you will always get the max exp that monster gives.....

Re: A list for XP
I guess that depends on perspective, b/c I don't view the system as being "broken" when it comes to which types of 'special moves' will give the most xp......that just sounds like behind the scenes information. Call me crazy, but that's just something you figure out in game play, i.e., through experience... call it testing if you want, but I call it experience.Ruewyn wrote:Ok, I can go and test the 2 weapon styles for each of the levelable weapons i use. and then the next person..and the next, 'til all 400+ people on the shard go and run the same test, just to see what is broken.
