New player with very bad luck
New player with very bad luck
Hi guys, not sure how to ask this so ill get right to the point, i had a little misshap while trying to come join in on my first non-newb champ hunt in fire dungeon today and i got totally whacked by some monsters, i had just spent about 200k that i had been working hard for over a week to make on a level weapon deed for my bow i brought from a player vendor.
after spending all this i was not left with enough for my insurance to carry on and i seem to have lost everything i have worked for this past 14 days :/ managed to cobble together a decent mix of 900+ luck with 90% LRC + my nice shiny new bow and by the time i got back to where the body was it had decayed.. i even lost the last 20k i had when i used a corpse stone to try and get my body back but stupidly forgot it only grabs the last body.. and as i died 2-3 times trying to get to my body i was left totally bugged.
i feel gutted about this and asked a gm if there is anything they can do to help me get it back seems the only way is if i give them some ED ( which is fair enough) but i just dont have the cash to do that im afraid. the gm was nice enough and suggested i ask some of the more experience players if they can help. i am not totally sure he had in mind when he said that but i have seen some of the insane amounts of money people can spend here ( gp i mean) i guess i was wondering if there are any old players about who have more millions than they know what to do with and would be kind enough to help out a young player who really needs a little help. i just dont have the energy to start again from scratch with some half decent stuff for my guy. all i have left is my house and i really dont want to have to sell that and start again with the cash, ( its only worth 115k or so anyway and that wont get me that far, plus ill have nowhere to put all my stuff!.
If there is anyone out there who would be willing to help me out please pm me in game, i would be very very thankful indeed !
( Snaggs btw ) thanks for anyone who reads this and messages me and i hope its ok to post this here.

I don't usually give stuff away, but I'll try to help ya out a bit. same thing has happened to me, and sometimes the kindness of others helps a LOT. just a suggestion, find a guild. Helps a lot to have buddies like that.

Re: New player with very bad luck
i lost a titan hammer bow in umbris once. titan hammers are about 1k eds now i believe. that's 47 million worth right there. yeah it sucks just have to get over it and grind on.
but i know how hard it is to put together a lmc gear.
i'm sorry to hear that but once you get some GoC's you proly will laugh at your old gear. another tip would to do bees. you get about a little over a million from selling wax and honey. might want to check that out.

Re: New player with very bad luck
wish I could do bees..... Need to be able to log in daily or at least close to for that... I'm stuck killing things.

you do know there is a stone in brit you can click then pay a small sum and it will retrieve your last corpse. also you should look up item insurance for your items!

@op, macroing stealth is one of the most useful things you can do and I don't think it's told enough to newer players

Re: New player with very bad luck
As far as stealth goes, I believe one can stealth back to a corpse naked with the amount of stealth you can buy from an NPC.
Re: New player with very bad luck
stealth is the number 1 most useful skills to have as a beginner. won't help you get your corpse in fel wrong or umbris but ah well most places you can stealth to your body and claim it while hidden.

Re: New player with very bad luck
thanks very much for the usfull input everyone, figured out about item insurance and stuff now ( did not have this when i left uo !

Re: New player with very bad luck
maybee it will be an helpfull experience for the future.
iam new too on this shard and the one and only i do is to train skills.
i read the Survival Guide at the Wiki and after this the How to be Awesome Guide.

http://www.uoex.net/wiki/How_to_be_Awesome_Guide
The most important part for me was :
Skills
Here's a break down of what skills you will need to have. Won't mention, magery/fighting skills, etc, as everyone knows of these
Hiding: Must have, as you need it for...
Stealthing: One of the best skills in game. Allows you to easily get back to your corpse, scout out a new dungeon, avoid baddies, etc. You do not need to reapply stealth every 10 steps here, but there is a skill check as you are walking. Metal armor, etc. make it harder to stealth. You cannot use your pets for 20 seconds after you stealth. Macro hiding/stealth early on, as it changes so many things.
Focus: The warriors meditation. This adds base stam AND mana regeneration. Get this and Meditation to 120.
Music/Peacemaking: Good to stall enemies as they approach, helps let you fight one at a time. Also helps in taming pets.
Discordance: A bardic ability that lowers the stats of the target. At 100 skill, lowers stats by 20%, 120 should be 24%.
Bushido: Great assist skill. You need Bushido, or Ninjitsu, in order to use a Yumis abilities. Bushdio also has spells that act as weapon abilities, should your weapon not have any good ones (eg cavorting club). Bushido will also affect the amount of damage done by Whirlwind weapons, up to a cap of +100 damage. Shouldn't be the first skill you level, but definitely worth having/playing with
Chivalry: See Godmode section.
Necro: Great skill. Has a bunch of great spells that allow you to increase mana regen, add life/mana leech to your weapon, do AoE dmg and more. If you don't have the tokens for a wep level deed, check out necro, as it can be a great help with Mana Leech, to help spam abilities.
Tracking/Detect Hidden: Helps in Gauntlet, on the Shadow Knight boss. Good to have before you go in and waste an hour/all your regs.
Spirit Speak: See Cleric Spells.
and now atm i on the high sea and train fishing. i dont have more than 30k gold. every time i need gold i go with my dragon killing something or do escorting npcs. my account is 11 days old and i never have seen an champion. the only dungeon i saw was despice and now with my trained generation 1 dragon destard to have some fun. i have 28 skills with 100.0 and i have to train some more. i failed to tell razor to work for me but since today it works. so i bought an ship and learned fishing now. maybe fishing never help me to kill something but i like it to train skills and if i have all skills up to 100, a nice house with a lot of beehives....then i will check out the rest of the game.
sorry if there are some mistakes. english isnt my 1st language and its more than 18 years ago that i was in school to learn it.
