Friday Night Fights

So i recently remember playing on several free shards where they held wrestling fights in an arena venue. Players would fight using only wrestling skill, wearing only non-attribute clothing and wrestle to the death. This was a huge success, and players could wager and cheer on their favorite fighters.

I was wondering if this could be considered and if so how many would enjoy / participate. We could have a ranking system and award top prizes for each bout and have champions each week defending their titles against all challengers.

No, its really just a one on one wrestling match like UFC, and two people duke it out wrestling. simple, fun and entertaining. many bouts and awards at the end. thats all. nothing like the GM's made up.

Yes, we can organise it. Just need a plot of space, some benches to sit and a ring set up , with rope around the edges. little deco perhaps and ding ding ding ! Fight !

The problem is - where? The only place that allows Player vs Player fights is either the PvP Room or the Thunderdome. It'd take a 'divine intervention' to designate a different spot as pvp-allowed.

Lagos has an arena. Decorated and everything. Just ask him to temporarily guild you and you're good. IF he ever logs back in again for more than 10 seconds. *laughs*

It's NOT pvp. you are so far off the map, are you in the dark ages? This is an event just like all other events that are allowed on the shard. and who are you to tell anyone that we can't hold an event on the shard? are you speaking for the staff? or do you have some special powers that let you decide what we do here? I don't even know who you are lol...... and why would you comment one something you know nothing of? please introduce yourself.... we are amiss of who you are ....... ?

This is indeed a PVP event. It may be a fun and welcomed event but it will be a player versus a player event nonetheless.

but nowhere in his post does he say you cannot host/hold this event.

I think you are out of line speaking so rudely to someone who is bouncing ideas back and forth especially when you posted for ideas on this subject, and is definitely not a way to win people over and have them participate in an event.

Now, I can say that Ilsanor was probably responding to another person saying they could host the event. Cornbread, Myself, and Possibly NME have at least two of us for sure asked staff on having designated pvp areas to host a sort of Gladiator event even recently and have been turned down by the staff with the answer "No". So really jumping down his throat for basically saying something that the staff will not allow, isn't nice to do. Now on the other hand if the staff would host it, it would probably be more suitable, but still, they have pvp and pvm events they host and have hosted, so adding another one to just wrestle is probably not on the agenda (especially since we are going to patch at some point and they say they are working on new areas)

Wow...where did that hostility come from? He was pointing out history and how things happened in the past. Usually adding open pvp areas would equal adding more opportunity for players griefing others or players paging due to others interfering with a pvp event organized by players. There are rooms in the pvp dungeon where you can hold an event like this, but staff do not oversee these. Adding a custom pvp region is not a staff service currently available, and biting his head off for simply stating truth is certainly not going to win you any favors from players or myself. You might want to consider being more respectful if you're planning on staying here.

It's a great idea Brogan.
Sure there will be arguments over naked stat disparity, but handicaps can be worked out.
If each competitor is temporarily guilded, it should be fun PvP played chivalrously.
Get ready for a price hike in wrestling powerscrolls!

We used to hold an event like this back in the UO days before trammel, somebody would create a guild, and a ring on top of their tower, and whoever wanted to participate in the event had to pay a fee and they would add you to the guild. If anybody interfered with the match, the person would ban them from the house. It seemed to work pretty well.

Im going to try to implement this. I have dedicated a house for the wrestling matches or maybe pvp matches if people are interested. It will be every Friday night that I can make it or if I can find a co-leader to run it.
Rules and such will be post at a later time in a separate post.
Let me know how many people would be interested in this?
