Re: Does luck really work??
Oh yah! Luck works! lol There is a clear difference when u have under 1k luck as to when u have over 1k! The rare drops seem to come a bit easier, gravedigging can bring much greater rewards, and the tokuno reward will most likely be something other than a dye... lol Anytime there is a "chance" of something it seems to be allot better with a full stomach and high luck! : D
Re: Does luck really work??
Yes I finally saw the change as I got over 5k luck when collecting DNA but with diminishing returns. There is a big difference with tokuno artys, but I still dont get an increase in the doom gauntlet with regards to getting more doom artys.
Re: Does luck really work??
I just wanted to have the staff look at this post again and actually give me a confirmation of how luck works on this shard. I was a bit concerned by reading the following:
I was looking at stat caps posted on the wiki and under luck it says "Needs to be tested" what the !@#$%!
I went crazy when I read this. I was told last year by staff members that luck absolutely works and it effects many of the shard engines such as doom, treasure drops and bio engineering! If this is not the case I want a refund on all the luck that I have purchased! 4400 eds = 220,000,000 I spent on worthless luck! Not to mention the false sense that somehow the luck will actualy help me get dna. I got killed a thousand deaths standing in front of monsters/bosses trying to sample them believing that luck works...and im dizzy from going round and round in doom only to watch noobs get a totem on their first go around...geez
I have experimented with luck and have not found any evidence of it EVER given me any advantage by reaching the cap. I walk around with 4400 luck all the time, so I think I would notice some sort of benefit.
I just ran around in doom for 2 days/16 hours and witnessed countless other players get more artys than I did with virtually no luck gear on.
This is not really a complaint, but another one of my little frustrations coming to the surface again. Could a staffer please post some concrete info on how this really works on THIS shard.
Thanks
Electra

Re: Does luck really work??
i have 7200 luck, and it seems that the only thing that affects things is: bio engineering, and tokuno drops. it does bump the loot template to max (only affects stuff like more weapons with spell casting or abilities on weapon.) sorry you invested so much. also, to really do bio engineering and do it successfully you really need about 5-7200 in luck.
Re: Does luck really work??
One of the players with maxed out luck (7200) told me recently that it has nothing to do with the creation or possible stats of normal looted magic items (weapons and armor). I have noticed by watching his comments it does seem to yield some nice results for the chance of Ilshenar related artifacts. Other then that bio engineering is one of the only appeals of having luck it would seem, and that is an all or nothing kind of thing.
Re: Does luck really work??
The only time you really notice a huge difference is between 0-1k luck after that its a diminishing value.... And even at 7200 luck i went to gauntlet for an 2 hours got one arti so.... enless you wanna compete in the bio market i would say after a few k luck dont go any higher

I Must agree with Rossi on this. I have slowly gained more and more luck *starting at 150 and now at 412* and along the way have noticed increases in items dropped and there intensity. To be bluntly honest, the average player wont need more then 700 luck, since the range of increase for 700+ is only +1... At about 650 luck you have a 1 in 3 chance of increase, and at 700-1200 luck the range increases to 1 in 2 chance of increase... That being said it doesn't mean you wont get a higher intensity of items off of monsters slain. The one factor being forgotten here, is you can't make a mongbat give you a Sword of Invulnerability.

One for the Old timers...
Fight tougher monsters, with more luck; more often, and you will find the best loot on them eventually. (Hopes some day +Colibri and Staff add to the list of items that can drop off of monsters... because we need a spark of interest.... and soon) P.S. make it hard to get them, but do able. UO is about the party... not the solo Demi-god.
Criticism is good because it improves upon what came before, and solidifies the strongest of foundations.

Re: Does luck really work??
I have right around 800 luck and usually do hunting ( aka a ton of dreadhorn here lately) and have noticed some very nice weapons dropping as loot with luck so I think the luck is working at least as far as loot as concerned. I cant speak for any other part of it though.
