Ok, so if strength doesn't matter is there any real gain to using ointments to jack their dex up to 140?

Jury is out on imp str not mattering, im in favor of it beeing real factor and it is important to me. ill chalege anyone to put thier money where the mouth is and trade me a 370 for 3 290s. however to answer you question the 140 dex does affect how fast they will strike, and yes it is notice able. also stanama also afeccts the damage stream in a very noticeable way. I oint all mine to 170 stanama, and 140 dex. also i belive thier intell will automaticly rasie to 125, im not 100% on that but i am 99.9999999999

Re: Imp Pets Str doesn't matter.
If you work them against a personal trainer long enough their intell and dex both max out at 125. I am working on getting my last 2 to 125 dex. I have 4 at 1100 hits. Last 2 at 700. So 890 ointments to max dex and hits on all 6. Then I decide if its worth raising their stamina. It would take another 3k of them or so to max stamina on 6 imps. Somehow I doubt the stamina increase is worth that pain.

Re: Imp Pets Str doesn't matter.
Meant to post this a while ago, someone pointed out that the damage difference is irrelevant as resists/armor on different mobs = diff amounts of damage.
So just as a correction, a difference of 70 Str is about a 9% damage difference.
On Lady Mel it was 66 dmg vs 71 dmg, for comparison.
So yeah, it does add damage, but nothing worth scouring the worlds end for 370s, or paying three times the cost of a 300str.

heh from a non imp pet users outsider perspective..
Devlin I think is argueing that they shouldnt double in price for a 9% difference in damage I believe..
thats reasonable.. Just compare it to a real world object..
an intell processor chip, does a chip that makes a 9% increase in speed cost double?
its interesting though..
Yoda.....

Devlin is always pushing for lower prices, except when he is selling.
If you have an item and think it is worth x amount of gold.. sell it for that amount of gold. Value in a game like this is based on perception and opinion.

Re: Imp Pets Str doesn't matter.
I really willing to pay 3 times for 370 str imps. Anyone sell?
Re: Imp Pets Str doesn't matter.
Just letting people know that you can buy the 270 str ones, it doesnt matter
I dont sell imp pets =)

'Talk to reese about that first
Hah!
An imprisoned pets only job is to die and not suffer stat loss, any thing else is a bell and a whistle completely optional to their main function, so if you want to dump 20 million gold into an animal, go right ahead, i used to think that 360+ str, high dex, blah blah was all very important on imp pets, but then i realized I was wasting my money, now i dont even carry them around.
if you spent 5 million on the pet, and ten million on the oints its still cheaper than a relayer, i guess

Re: Imp Pets Str doesn't matter.
I think there was another post about this.
The result was that from 270 to 370 str the difference is about 12%, and with a pack of 5 this should go to roughly 25% dmg difference (not sure how the pack dmg bonus is calculated). And the 25% difference is between a pack with all 270 str and one with all 370 str.
So the difference between a pack with all 370 str, and an average pack with average of 320 str, the difference in dmg is about 12% again.

Failure is not an option, it's a standard.

Jack, I believe you're the one who told me about my poor math skills, needed to be % base damage, not numerical. Think we spoke a couple months back on this.
70 Str was a difference of 9% damage. (295ish, 368ish test subjects)
Pack bonus just increases double, so 5 pets would be 18%.

Re: Imp Pets Str doesn't matter.
Think of it this way
2x dmg with pack instinct
4.5 dmg extra w/o pack
9dmg per pet w/pack ((going with max pack here)) http://www.uoguide.com/Pack_Instinct
9x5 = 45 this is how much more damage you'll gain.
Mathematically this makes sense.

Re: Imp Pets Str doesn't matter.
There is a post about this before and that guy was saying 5 imps with 370 str do 4000 more damage than 5 imps with 270 in six minutes time span. I think in six minutes and your pets can only do 4000 damage then it's not worth spending millions into buying a 370str over 270str.
Therefore, I agree with Devlin on this post. It's so not worth spending an extra million or two on 370str imps, but if you like to believe they are better for you then have it your way.

*Imp St does matter, how much it matters depends on how you like to play the game.
Worth is relative, for some people they are going to spend that extra million+ to get the maximum amount out of their pets. It's pretty much the same as getting a relayer (500 eds) to boost your stats by 0.x%
