MUDflation is one of the biggest killers for MMOs that don't have the ridiculous resources (e.g. WoW) to combat it. It becomes harder and harder for new people to start out, especially when mobs don't drop any more gold to compensate for the (artificially) higher prices. The vendors site is combating that in a way that I'm not sure our current staff can, given the constraints of available time and energy.
New players can make gold if they chose to. You are getting on that fact of, a new player shouldn't have to do work to get stuff. When he should. There is gold to be made, and gold that can be made. Look at my character for example, I came, prices here were 3 times they are now on items, we had 150-200+ players here daily *similar to now* And I was able to move things, hunt, save gold, earn things. I NEVER DONATED IN MY FIRST 2 YEARS HERE I figured things to sell, and sold them, got pets, hunted, ENJOYED THE GAME INSTEAD OF TRYING TO JUMP RIGHT IN ON TOP. Now everyone wants to buy eds to get individual stat scrolls to get to 220 dex and insta-heal. Yes, There are a lot of us farther into the game as you are...But we also have been playing for years, and earned ourselves that way.

You know all it takes is some players to just "put" an item on their vendor, say 5 times a week....That same item, let it sit till the EXLIST character comes and rests the stuff, Then REMOVE the item from their vendor. Within a week, 90 percent of the players will pm to buy something and say "well the price going is 1/3 of that on the vendors.uoex.net site" Which might not even be a truthful review of goods since the exlist guy just checks the vendors items for items if its gone, it considers it a sale.

Also the ability for you to price something you worked hard to get and then price it accordingly, then for every Hour to have to check it to lower if the rest lower to me, is not the way u should be running the site. Since that scan has been out, prices on things have dropped dramatically, not because people are ripping others off, although that happens form time to time, but because other players either want to A ruin the economy (I'm talking from some of those names being players adverting other shards, or complaining about how horrid this place is) or B. They dont like the other person selling something they are. Or in some cases C. They want to control something they can afk macro while they sleep and who cares if they sell for cheap, they were just running a macro while they sleep, so it is all profit for them. Especially if they go so low, ITS NOT WORTH IT FOR ANYONE TO COMPETE(Potion Kegs). Think of what u get from potion kegs, U GET basically LITERALLY free gold for not even 10 minutes of work a day. And the kegs don't even cost you any gold because well. A jerk who afks their stuff ( no names being mentioned) doesn't care cuz 90 percent of the day they are afk filling kegs. Its the same with the Cloth, people were doing cloth, u could sell on [exex for 2 gp on a sell order, or to vendors for that as well, and then he removed selling to vendors and what happened.....NOW you can buy cloth for .5 gp per piece because, "im afking making it, i can go as low as i need" Which is RIPPING off new players of their ability to be able to sell things from the start....more of a rip off of u waiting an extra day or two to find something cheaper then the going rate..

Look at runebooks, went from 750 gold to about what they are at about 400 gp now, in a few days. You may think that is good for new players, But don't forget, If no item has value other then 4 or 5 Items (titan's hammer, SoT, Jackals collar, Batwings, Bone crusher) Then what is the point of coming to play, Most won't want to. They will come, see nothing they earn or make can get them anywhere in this game from start (potion kegs, runebooks, trade skills new players rely on for most gold making) Then they will most likely overturn the player base. hence 5000 million houses that are placed but never used, or have players in them, and you all wish would drop so u can place yours in return.

See, that is the attitude should not even be displayed by someone. Why do you care so bad how many relayers we have? You can earn them just as we did. And let me tell you. The pricing on the exlist, does not effect my gold intake. All you do by it is hurt not only yourselves, but ruin it for new players who can't make any gold working skills, or having any sort of trades.

A jerk who afks their stuff
Soooo... ExList makes people do illegal AFK stuff? You're confusing two different things here. Prices drop because AFK people don't care about the price they sell their goods for. Yes. But what does that has to do with ExList? You want to take down the site because you believe it's sole purpose is to allow AFKers to dispose their illegally acquired goods? Do away with the AFKers and the prices will stabilize, I can guarantee that. ExList or not.
Also the ability for you to price something you worked hard to get and then price it accordingly, then for every Hour to have to check it to lower if the rest lower to me, is not the way u should be running the site.
I make my gold by gathering resources (wood mostly, but also ingots) and the "check every hour for price change" has been a part of this career choice since I started, thanks to ExEx. Do I like being undercut by someone who keeps posting 1 board way below regular price over and over and over again to dump prices? No. Do I think taking down ExEx will rectify the situation? No. People will always lie and cheat to get their way.

First off, You attacked an argument i made without reading the entire message i was putting out there, You attacked the afk part. Which if you read the whole thing you would realize is a piece of MULTIPLE examples.

Second off. [exex is just as bad. I gave my example of it there too...or did u just see two parts and choose to argue with them for the sake of wanting someone to argue with?

I made my points on the situation. If u think the price of all goods, and all of any work u do, should never go over 1k per...Then you really don't care about any of the player base on this shard, and only care about maybe trying to make gold to amass urself to some level to sit afk at the bank to say "look at me im so cool".

Like i said before Go look at all these houses sitting around with NOTING in them cuz a new player leaves because he cannot make gold because he isn't "in with a good guild" to give him free stuff (which is basically what all of u do to try to make a big guild to sound cool). OR, he cannot sell anything he makes to make any sort of profit to help him advance. Therefore he is left with two options. Leave, or Suck up to some guild to get made better.

Sad, but true.

So if u want to find someone to argue with, go find a global #irc channel or login to your facebook or twitter account, and start update stalking.

I'm just saying there's all this shouting about ExList, while a similar service has been functioning on this shard for years now. Only difference is what items and (consequently) which part of player base it affects. Namely - ExEx rarely affects things that vets sell, other than currency. So no fuss there.

Also - you chose to divide you message in such a way, that the AFK part seemed to be a distinct point, one that I chose to discuss. It is an example completely unconnected with the issue in this topic. And please, lay off the personal insults.

And i said that [exex is a bad idea as well, but as the fact that this is about vendors.uoex.net i went with just that. [exex is just as bad, but now its like we have [exex for ever item on the shrd. which has made basically everything on the shard, worthless for players, esp the ones who need those sales, newer players.

Regarding the [exex - it has been in for years, some feel it is good or bad, but the fact is that it did not tank prices so drastically within a matter of a month or two, the way the exlist site has.

Colibri already has plans to modify the exex so that you cannot list for more than 20% above or below the current going price. We also have plans for drastic changes to the AFK punishments that will serve as genuine deterrents to AFK rule violations. Nobody will want to be caught AFK'ing once those are in, and thus prices being ruined by those who do nothing but AFK and don't care about a small profit margin will no longer be as much of a problem. Once those changes are made, the main problem will still be Exlist, as it is not managed or controlled by the staff. I am hoping to have it modified to not show prices as I mentioned earlier. I feel that would be a nice compromise for those who like to know where to look for something, and those who want the pricing market to stabilize again.

Ilsanor, your posts in these kinds of threads are usually rather rude and then you seem confused when you get rude replies. You might want to think about the tone of what you are saying and how it will be perceived before you post. Rudeness begets rudeness, it's not okay to post in such a way as to start some sort of flame war, especially in threads which are productive and polite discussions regarding potential shard changes.

That said, let's everyone get back on topic and post civilly and in a productive fashion, or I will lock the thread.

With the character base we have on this shard it is amazing to me that we have people on here that cheat. We should be a pretty close knit group. Its rare to see more than 200 people at a time here and you would think that everyone would want to be profitable but fair. When i first logged in here i was amazed at how expensive everything was. I even messaged a gm to get further explanation because i couldnt afford anything that would kill a lich. Most of the arguement seems to stem from whether prices are fair to both the purchaser and the seller. Its simple really. Its a supply and demand thing. The item is only worth what people are willing to pay for it. the vendor post doesnt really influence that as much as you think. It is the responsibility of both parties to know what its worth. And that is simply what the purchaser is willing to pay. Having a vendor is never a new players priority anyway.

Plainly put: You cannot dictate what people will SAY somthing is worth. You can dictate what you are willing to sell it for. Alot of these sellers are millionaires on here anyway. So a few gold here or there fluctuation is not going to hurt you.
