Lucky Luck - What does it do?
It's time to raise this conversation from the dead, again (mainly because I've forgotten everything from when I used to play years ago and am concerned I may have missed something).
What does luck actually affect on uoex? I've heard a million different rumours about everything, which makes it hard to tell fact from fiction.
IIRC back in the day luck affected: Bioengineering and Ilshenar paragon drops and that was it.
It did NOT affect: doom arties, looted wep properties (intensity and quantity), tokonu arties, GoC drops, raffle stones, quantity of gold dropped, peerless special items etc.
Also does luck have diminishing returns? (If it actually affects anything anyways).
Cheers,
JW
PS would be great to get an answer from someone who knows the code...*wink, wink, nudge, nudge +C*

Cool, Thanks Fist. I was unsure about the Tok arties. I had a feeling they might have been similar to the Ilsh arties.Fist wrote:It does affect tokuno arties, ive tested this with 500 luck and 7200 luck.
Have you noticed any improvements in looted wep properties/gauntlet arties since u hit 7200 luck?

Zero
Unless we are totally backwards from OSI Shards, Luck should affect loot properties and intensities.

Re: Lucky Luck - What does it do?
Part of the point of this was to confirm that uoex luck DOES NOT effect loot intensities/properties. I think it was once publicly announced that it did not effect it. Dunno, its been a long 6 or 7 years since I was active and don't remember though. Luck has been completely recoded here (I believe) and nothing from OSI carries over in terms of luck.Charon wrote:Unless we are totally backwards from OSI Shards, Luck should affect loot properties and intensities.
Would love some +C input here... I also recall +C once upon a time saying that what luck does here is deliberately kept fairly secret, not sure if that memory is correct either though. If that is the case, why must it be so secretive? Especially given how expensive it is to luck out a suit.
Re: Lucky Luck - What does it do?
Keep it secret so people add it, but it really does nothing? Makes sense from a financial point of view. lol
Re: Lucky Luck - What does it do?
I have noticed that weapon/item drops are more frequent and the items have a chance of being 'above average. Actually some of the best items I have found are in areas people have never thought to farm weapons and gear... ^_^
It won't happen on the 1st kill you make, but by the 1,000th you will start to notice

How much luck do you rock to notice these 'above average' drops?Sir Blood wrote:I have noticed that weapon/item drops are more frequent and the items have a chance of being 'above average. Re: Lucky Luck - What does it do?
300-700 you will not notice anything, over 1,000 you should notice if you kill for long enough and actually 'look' at the loot without auto loot parameters set
Get over 1600 and you will notice. You will get a lot of +8 stat rings, a few +6-7 dual rings, random +8 dual rings, a few triple stat rings from time to time (but usually just on peerless). 3x12+ resist weapons drop more frequently and 1/2 decent weapons drop as well.
If you are into LRC - (lower reagent cost) you will get a lot of equipment with that as well.
Will you notice it killing mongbats - NO (thought I did hear a rumor that it 'might' increase their chance of dropping good gems...
Will you notice it killing Balrons and other semi-difficult mobs - Yes

Re: Lucky Luck - What does it do?
You did not answer my question. How much luck do you have to notice these effects?
If the guys with 7200 luck are saying they see NO difference in loot quality I am going to have to call BS on your post. I think you are seeing patterns that don't really exist. Plus I believe it has been confirmed that luck has zero effect on loot intensity/properties. It is NOT scripted like OSI here.
I was really hoping +C would clarify at least a few things about luck here.

Re: Lucky Luck - What does it do?
Ive killed almost 500 Lady Mel's starting with 500ish luck running up to 7200 luck. Zero increase in loot quality.

Re: Lucky Luck - What does it do?
Thanks for the info Fist. I believe Sir Blood may be seeing things that are simply not there.Fist wrote:Ive killed almost 500 Lady Mel's starting with 500ish luck running up to 7200 luck. Zero increase in loot quality.
Re: Lucky Luck - What does it do?
I have looted almost 10 4x58 weapons, several 5x46 and more dual +8 stat rings than I care to think about. NOT A SINGLE ONE FROM A PEERLESS
I also took off some luck gear because as soon as I broke 2,000 I noticed a reversal of the luck benefit. 1600 has been a good lucky number for me
It is also possible that luck plays more of a role in some shard areas and nothing in others

Re: Lucky Luck - What does it do?
What non peerless mobs have you been seeing that kind of loot drop?
