I found these posts and just wondered how exactly whirlwind works with a bow.
Does it activate at the bow's range or is it still limited to 1 tile?
Here

and
here
Thanks.

I had the same question. WW on bow is 1 tile distance, so you can attack 8/9 targets that are close you. But if there are no mobs close to you, it will shoot arrow without special attack to one distant mob.
Anyway I always hated switching weapon to change from ww to double shot when mobs start to run away at low hp. So such bow is great to use in in s'gail. Really that change specials scroll is my best purchase on uoex.
Another idea I heard except usinig that scroll on bow is to add WW and double strike/crushing blow on jack sparrow's cutlass, which has high base damage.Only cutlass doesn't have hit spells at base. Would be good to relayer another weapon to cutlass, but it is probably not possible(I haven't checked).

Basically like Iltar said. If there are mobs standing 1 tile away it hits them all like a normal WW attack. If there are no mobs standing nearby it shoots an arrow at a ranged target, but only one target. It does not hit multiple mobs that are more than 1 tile away. It's a bit of a gimmick really, it is not as useful as a true WW weapon with multiple AoE effects.
