Excelsior

I'm looking for the most efficient ways to earn gold in Ultima Online: Excelsior. Whether it's farming specific mobs, crafting, running dungeons, or merchant trading—what strategies have worked best for you?

If you buy the basic fletching skill, you can get a Bulk Order Deed ever hour (on up to 6 characters). I'm happy to buy as many as I can get for 1k each.

There are a lot of farming strategies for gold and it really depends on your gear and what you find enjoyable.

If you're just starting out, using a whirlwind weapon in areas with good mob density is good especially if you're also leveling that weapon.

Farming the keys in Citadel usually sells well and the mobs drop good gold but the spawns are pretty camped.

Some of the mobs in Labyrinth drop lots of gold but can be challenging.

Champs are pretty profitable especially if you take the time to loot some of the later spawns. You cannot use [claim at champs so you will need a looter or do it manually.

Maintaining bee hives and selling the wax to vendors is a steady stream of income once you get it down.

Vote at the blue Topsite Voting Stone in the Town Center once every 19hours. increments of gold will get up to 50k ish if you vote every day then to 1 ED every day. Which you could keep or sell. Takes about 2 minutes.

Escorting the nobles seems to be a thing (I suspect some are AFK'ing this with a script, but who knows).

Well, hopefully this helps a bit better. Let me preface, you cannot afk/macro gold mining or any resource on this server, so be aware.

Brand New:
Escourt the nobles near the towngates. Repeatable every 5 min or so. Safe, secure and can get you the necessary gold to get started

New:
Get a whirlwind weapon and do the one newbie dungeon that has all the easy undead in it. I'd have an autoloot/scavanger macro running

Mid-Advanced:
Citadel (very heavily camped and some are afk there while doing it)- not monitored it seems.

As folks said, depends a lot on what resources you have and what type of activity you're into/willing to go for.


Personally I find citadel to be a bit meh.

I'll assume you've basic/mid tier gear so throwing in a couple examples:

Mid tier- (say 200+ HP and good resistances etc.):

• Twisted Weald. Mobs drop a lot of gold, some decent items, etc.
• Champ Spawns, Destard, Tokuno and Tera Keep in particular. Join in when they open up, can make a pretty penny
• Gauntlet. For low-mid tier, you'll need help or a party as Darth Vader fight can be a tad difficult

For entry level or lower tiers

• Resource gathering- Demon Hides, Woodcutting, Mining etc.
• Treasure maps may be viable - will have to try and see
• Potion kegs may be viable - Agi, Strength, Cure, Heal and Poison are usually in pretty high demand.
• Helping new players - think someone already mentioned that but generally speaking, once you're set up reasonably, you can start helping out new players and they can then basically give you a small reward of 1 ED or so (~50K). At-least, I used to do that a long long time ago. Think it's still applicable

Additionally, all levels can benefit from trading/arbitrage (if you're savvy) and beehives - Bees are a tad annoying to tend to but give a solid profit
and require only a small empty house plot. Highly recommended.


Finally, if you're cheeky, you can do script commissions.
They can be very lucrative but require you to have some coding/programming skills.

This is one of the question i alway got being guild leader of [EM] Easy Money. I have a few books i wrote in game answering just that question. there were at least 10 Easy Money making ways come to my farewell house drop and get one of the books.

also easiest way to make gold, buy and sell EX dollars. I haven't done that, but many others have.
