Changes to Mule taming?

Months ago, I used to be able to tame MOA mules. It took a little bit, but at 110 taming I could do it. I would get quite a few failure messages...but I would eventually do it.

Now at 120 taming, I cannot do it at all. I continually get "This animal is to angry to continue taming". I think that gets triggered when it keeps attacking me....as it never runs, even when subdued. It just keeps attacking until it is dead. As a result, I never even get to the point when I get a failure message, just the 'too angry', making it impossible to tame.

Has something changed in the game? Or why would a higher level of taming make the mule continue to attack and always cause the "this animal is too angry to tame".

I have 120 taming also and very seldom ever kill a mule when taming unless of course someone decides to "help" me.
By chance do you remain in war mode after subduing or remain close enough for him to strike you? Or possibly try peacing then waiting the 13 seconds or so to try taming. I understand mules are tricky to tame but I am not sure the skill of 120 rather than 110 would have made it more difficult but rather i remember when i was at 110 raising to 120 I know i get far less failures.
However the still angry to tame could be a result from you staying in war mode after subduing. I know i take my weapons off and fight with hands and once subdued i take war mode off and tame.
Need any help anytime [pm Phoenix

Keep your eyes peeled for those flying red numbers - that message means that the mule is taking damage while you're attempting to tame it. Perhaps you have too much Reflect Damage % gear on?

Once Razor shows it down to 4% or less I always go out of war mode. As for getting too close, well I cannot get away from it...it keeps coming after me. It doesn't run like something else I have subdued (a Cu Sidhe for example).

I never thought about peacing it...I bet that would work :)

Also never thought about the reflect gear...that may be what is doing it as well.

Thanks :)

I've always peaced the mule got it down to about 8 percent and then removed weapon no reflect damage and wrestle till under 4percent. then tame stayin a step away.

Yeah - I'm not maxed (I'm around 114 right now) and I can tame them pretty easily...peacemaking is almost required though. I've never tamed one without peace-ing it. Reflect damage can be enough to kill it if it's still attacking you, but generally my method is this:

Attack until Razor says [0%]...
then peace...
meanwhile it gets back up to [4%]...
then tame...

...and if it goes up to [8%] before the second message of the taming (i.e. Here..., We could be friends, etc), I know it will need to be subdued further. Sometimes you can peace it, then reduce it to [4%] or [0%] without it starting to attack again, and then it's really easy to tame because the delay between skills is absorbed while you bring its health down.

*shrug*

By the way, if you tame any mules with a level cap of 30, I'll buy them from you :)
