Anyone else tired of getting sterile pets in large groups. Its supposed to be a 5% chance. Funny how my sterile rates on this one breed has been running closer to 50%. Today I claimed 6 pets. 2 were sterile. 1 out of 2 on the one pet type. I mean I am TRYING to breed larger numbers of the one type but when half of them are sterile practically every time I breed them its practically impossible to increase numbers.

I mean its bad enough imprisoned pets killed bred pet sales but now its more and more impossible to just breed up a pet type just for fun.

The ONLY thing I haven't had happen lately is BOTH babies of a cross be sterile. Yeah I know that is supposed to be a 1 in 400 chance. Well I have had it happen more often than that. Which is why I quit playing on this shard for months.

And before anyone says I am just having bad luck, sorry its not just bad luck when it happens over and over and over and over. ie getting sterile pets from a cross at critical times.

The last 6 or 7 times I backbred a maxed pet line I got huge amounts of steriles at gen 4 ie EXACTLY when you have lowest numbers of pets and each sterile baby comes that much closer to making ALL your breeding efforts futile. And funny how if you breed a gen 9 to a gen 3 at LEAST 95% of the times you get a sterile its the gen 4 that's sterile instead of the gen 10 that cant breed anyways. Sort of like happened last time I backbred mules. 3 out of 5 or was it 4 out of 6 of the gen 4 baby mules were sterile. Either way it was a LOT more than 5% attrition rate.

If your intent is to make your successful breeders give up on breeding Col just SAY so and I will quit beating my head against the concrete wall that you have turned pet breeding into.

I've been doing some breeding and never had that issue. I get sterile baby less than 5% of the time.

On the other hand, I have a hard time getting male from my nobles, I have about 75% chance of getting a female baby when I breed them (I'm talking on the long term, I had around 30-40 babies). Maybe there is some genetic information pass down to the babies that we are not aware of (such as female/male ratio and fertility). But personnaly, I think this is just bad luck.

I have not had an issue with steriles at all. Maybe one or two level 10s that have come out without breeds, but it doesn't matter anyway. As for the male/female thing.. It seems to come in waves. I used to have almost twice the number of females as males, now I have slightly more males. It all works itself out in the end *shrug*

It MAY work out to 5% sterile overall but when I get a lot MORE than 5% at gen 4 seven different times its just a bit hard to believe the bad luck theory. Once is bad luck, twice is really bad luck, 7 times is wayyyyyyy beyond bad luck

Let us just go with this theory.. You have horrible luck and I have great luck

I get about a 1/5th sterile rate. I used to dislike them, but now sterile ones just mean I don't need to use 2-4 breeds on them before I can sell them ;P
The fail rate is what kills me and inevitably is what drives me to quit breeding, over and over again.

Yup I took a month or so off. Came back. turned in 11 pet claim deeds. Three had zero breeds. Three had 1 breed, Three had 2 breeds, one had 3 three breeds, and ONE had 4 breeds.

With over half being sterile or having only one breed its pretty pointless to continue.

So for the shards admins, if your intent was to kill pet breeding you have full success.

Is it the server admin, or the economy killing it? I mean honestly, I have over 50 ready to sell, 30 deeds to claim, and 100 or so breedables. It's not worth doing if I have to sell for far less than they are worth. I'll just breed less regularly and create a stock pile
