Looks like according to the timestamps on posts that the shard has been down for 5.5 hours so far.. Come on all you +'s, wake up and mainline your java so we can go on with the business at hand..

Basically if no info on the issue is released ppl will start to be pissed and move on to another server. That's why it is important to keep the public updated. It doesn't matter if the fix will take a week, but if you give information on the issue people will just have an idea on when they can log again without loosing pets and stuff.

More, only one guy is able to fix the problems with the server? You should start thinking on making at least 2-3 people responsible for maintaining the server up with different timezones so that at least one person is up to fix the problems as fast as they can. Just my two cents on the matter.

Inform the players and they'll be happy even if it takes a week to fix the problem. ;)

From what I remember of the outage a couple days ago, the Router had gone down, so they connected up a backup router before sending the regular one in for service. Now if we are down again, I wonder if the backup just died.

While we can guess all we want, most of the GMs probably don't have or can get access to the server remotely and +Cal might be at work or just not available.

The server is now up.

This was the same disconnect that happened a few times now. I have reconfigured a thing or two, in hope that it will solve the issue. I still don't know what exactly it is, or I would have changed that component already, though I think it's getting warm. Perhaps what I did today (before I've put it back online) will do the trick.

If the problem is still out there and there's further downtimes, keep in mind that I am doing my best to find the issue.

Do you have a UPS (uninterruptable power supply) attached to all the gear?

Yes, we do have UPS.

Oh, and for the record. The server was offline 6 hours when i started working on it. Due to the fact it's a been a long downtime, I have reverted back to approx 40 minutes prior to the time it went offline, I have also shrunken all of the pets that were not mounted. And I also checked if anyone is dead out there, and recovered one person's corpse. This is due to the fact it's been a revert. If it's a quick downtime, a few minutes, half an hour... then the chances of there being a revert is very small. Though if there's 3 or more hours downtime, then the revert is very likely (to the save that was done when the server was still online).

I played on Tichondrius, almost every tuesday maintenance was 'extended' for several hours and when there was a major patch was nearly unplayable for several days

I play on Khaz'goroth (BG9) and we had similar to Tich, alot of extended maintenance. Very annoying when you pay to play something with the amount of resources WoW has only to play watch the status page.

Now I'm guessing UOEx doesnt have a few floors of technicians keeping an eyeball on everything 24/7 nor are we to pay a monthly subscription so we need to chill in the event the shard drops. From what I've read +Coli does what he can to keep the shard on track, anyone thats either ran or been a GM on a shard knows its not always easy. Yes it would be nice to have an official "its down" posted every time, but after half a dozen people can't connect its pretty safe to assume it is down.

Cheers for gettin' it back online +Coli.
