I don't want this topic to immediately devolve into classic "staff is great" vs "staff doesnt do anything" that these usually sink into, so lets just get that out of the way. The staff is great. But we need more.

Couple choices here:
-We become an autonomous collective
-We get more staff

Seeing as self-rule will probably lead to mayhem, lets go with option #2. While staff in the past has been staff-picked, it may be interesting to see someone player-picked. Open up nominations and allow players to suggest candidates, to be followed by voting. The victor would remain anonymous, obtain a new name, etc. etc. etc.

I, personally, would like to continue playing here for a long time. I think we've hit a bit of a slump and most will agree with me. I don't want to see this server slowly fade away, so I'll continue to post ideas such as this to try to bring some life back into it. Next topic... Factions?

We have suggested hiring another staffer to Colibri, but he's been too busy recently. However, it is unlikely that the boss will ever want to have a new staff member selected solely by being voted in by the playerbase. Being staff isn't a popularity contest, and the most beloved player on the shard could very well be a terrible fit for staffing. Being a good staffer requires a blend of a certain type of personality, knowledge, patience, compatibility with the current staff members, trustworthiness, etc etc etc. Being the most recent staff member to be put through it, I can assure you Colibri's interview process is detailed, thorough, and lengthy. Nobody gets hired just because they are well-liked by the players, or even from being well-liked by the other staff. He takes our recommendations to heart, but nobody gets pushed through just because we like someone. My own interview process took over a month and involved dozens of questions about the game, my experience, my personality and my life. There are just too many factors to have it be out of Colibri's control.

As I said before, we do agree that an additional staffer or two would be beneficial, and we are always open to applications. Applicants may apply through myself or Veritas. You may PM me on the forums or send a page in-game. We will then contact you for further information so we can add you to the applicant list for Colibri to review.

Question 1, are you a masochist? If no......... this may not be what you seek!

1. The existing staff are amazing.
2. UOEX needs more staff
3. +Colibri needs to trust his staff. Therefore he must select the staff

Just wanted to chime in with my thoughts.

All valid points.
Wasn't looking for a popularity contest, just people that show an interest in the shard with knowledge of it as well.
Player nominations by players, staff votes on who?

i second that. but really i think the best staffers are...

1) someone who has everything or near everything.
2) someone from Europe *due to the time zone*
3) someone from Australia *due to over lapping time zones*
4) someone who has been here for a long time.

we really need a daytime (america daytime) staffer who will be on.

as we all know, or should know staff members do not get paid. it's voluntary, and it's not an easy job. you have to have a lot of patience, determination, and wisdom of the game. also remember, most staff members have daytime jobs (that's why i suggested someone from another time zone), and a personal life they would like to live. no one can be on all the time, nor should we expect them to do so. thank you staff for the hard work you have put into this game; making it enjoyable for everyone.

Couldn't tell you the last time I even saw John Warren logged on. Could say the same for Coli however =)

+Colibri's been online a lot. server restart, and daily news has been updated last week. he was also online monday if i remember for a restart. might not see him but he's around
