New Here
Re: New Here
Welcome to the shard! My suggestion would be to work on your skills first in the training room and New Player Dungeon before trying to run out and kill things. I have seen alot of new players recently that think as soon as they login that they can go into the dungeons and start killing things only to find that they can go in but will die fairly quickly. UO is a game of skill building as much as it is a Fantasy Hack game. Now that being said this is a great shard for new players as there are alot of people who will help you out, all you have to do is ask. I would also read the wiki as there is alot of good information on there that gets overlooked. If you have any questions you can contact me in game by using a PM (private message). To do that just type [pm jamkul. For others just replace my name with theirs. I hope you have fun here and again Welcome!

Re: New Here
do the newbie quest on every char every 30 minutes.
it's a boring grind but you will get lots of money that will make everything else easier!
stat gains are once about every 15 minutes. easiest way to get all your stat points is just to get naked and punch one of the trainer npcs all night which will net you about 32 stat gains over 8 hours (usually will average out to be lower than that)

Re: New Here
Welcome to Excelsior! I'd say your best bet is to read the Wiki, especially the New Player Guide... It's an excellent source of information highlighting everything from basic skill gain to custom content. Farm the rat quest on each of your characters every half hour to earn gold in order to buy better equipment. You can also check out the Youth Center, which is located in northern Britain (or can be accessed through the New Player Donation Room teleporter in Town Center). This is a player-run service that supplies armor, weapons, and valuable information to new players starting out.
Jamkul is absolutely right about starting out in the training room to gain your fighting skills and stats... To add to his advice, I'd like to point out that while you cannot be damaged in the training room, your armor can, so it's best to fight nekkid. Also, there are training dirks provided for free in each of the combat skills, so you don't need to worry about finding a weapon.
If you have any questions, you can always type [c to talk in world chat.

Also, if you like reading a lot you can check out the "Help and Player Guides" section of the forums. There are at least a couple of topics with advice for the newbies. Some are probably buried deep, but if you care to look you can find tons of useful info there. Oh, and never be afraid to ask questions, no matter how stupid. And ignore the sarcasm in the answers.

Re: New Here
first, i'd make 5 characters for the newbie dungeon run. you can do it every 30 mins and you can do it each on a different character without waiting for the cool down time. while you sleep... i'd macro my skills, weapons start with archery, which will bring up your dex and str. in fact if you can i'd macro both archery, hiding, and anatomy at the same time. when you first start you'll be mostly using a bow, and anatomy helps that. next work on stealth. you can retrieve your body if you die while in steal mode.
plus, katijay just wants to see you nakky.

Re: New Here
I'm surprised no one mentioned this, but I liked doing the newb champ when I was new. It goes every 4 hours and is a great opportunity to get to know other new players. It drops crafting only scrolls, but if you get a 120 Mining it sells for about 1 mil. Use the [c to get other new players to come and help. You have to be under 21 days to do it.
Of course, train up your skills and stats first. Train afk around the clock on the trainers.
In my opinion this is the easiest way to power. Start a new character (select custom, not preset) and put 50 in animal taming and 50 in whatever else you want. Train your taming to 60. Get your hands on a 110 animal taming PS (costs 75-100k) Use your skill ball at 60 taming to take you to 110. Buy a pack of 5 Maxed nobles. (not sure the price, maybe 100k-150k each, could be wrong). Now you can do most things on the shard, and make some serious gold. Some disagree and say use your skill ball on something really hard to train up like lockpicking. Which is good advise too, but I like the quick route to power and gold more.
Oh yea, be and archer and get a Yumi Bow.
Good Luck
