Lockpicking needs an adjustment
From what I hear and understand, with 100 lockpicking you can open all if not nearly all chests in the game here.
Then why is it, that with 98.1 Lockpicking, I still CANNOT "Understand how to manipulate" a deviously drawn Treasure Map Chest??
On one site I checked for OSI, 88.1 lockpicking would offer a chance (be it a very small chance) to open Deviously Drawn T-Map chests. So at some point it must have been altered for this server. But why so HIGH?!
I can understand making it higher than 95, since 95 can easily be macroed up in a day with the lock boxes in Haven. And for Deviously Drawn T-Maps you should be forced to do SOME work before you can go make a reasonable living picking T-Maps. But make it 97.5 or even 98.
I continue to keep trying to dig up a Deviously Drawn T-Map every .5% I get in Lockpicking in the HOPES that I will find that magic number where I can finally make use of the map, rather than dig it up, kill the starting spawn, fail at picking the lock and trashing the map. All to have to go back out fighting to get to Prision Camps before someone else does trying for days to get another .5% in lockpicking gains to repeat the process.
If I find that I have to have 100 LP to open deviously AS WELL as Ingeniously Drawn T-Maps, and Paragon Chests, I will be even MORE confused.
There should be a more obsious gap between these milestones.

imo i think your are absolutely right. i think that you should have a chance to open a dev t-map, but i think if you fail you ruin the map.
making it more erm.. worth while.

Re: Lockpicking needs an adjustment
I didnt have any problems raising mine. Are you emptying the chests completely, even ones you find others picked? I was told they respawn faster if you do this and from what I saw they do. theres 7 or 8 different camps you can go to, if you empty the chests they spawn as you get to them.

It is so. Feel the confusion. If I find that I have to have 100 LP to open deviously AS WELL as Ingeniously Drawn T-Maps, and Paragon Chests, I will be even MORE confused.

Same could be said about disarming traps. You can get to 80 by macroing Magic Trap. But then nothing - no higher t-map chest allows you to disarm it at that level and lower ones give you no gains.
Re: Lockpicking needs an adjustment
as it was said emptying the chest helps the respawn rate of prisoner camp chests... there are also way more than 7-8 of them.. there is more like 15-16..
as for removetrap, I am gaining above 80 best off the chests in dungeons (ie destard ice hythloth etc) I havent noticed a pattern as to which dungeon chests do it better so its not like only the 4 in the hythloth balron spots work etc its slow (at 83.
but it is working still

Re: Lockpicking needs an adjustment
I didn't have trouble getting the skill up, so much as finding a Prison camp that wasn't already gotten to before me. It was fustrating, but I finally got over 100 LP.
My biggest issue when starting this topic was that there should be a better seperation in the milestone for Lockpicking.
JUST GUESSING Here, but I think lvl 4 T-Maps require AROUND 75 LP to have a chance to open. Then no milestones from there til 100. And once at 100 nothing to achive afterward.
At 100 you get 3 milestones at once basicly. Lvl 5 T-Maps, Lvl 6 T-Maps, and Paragon Chests.
I was thinking that if Lvl 5 T-Maps was changed to say around 95 LP, Paragon Chests to say 108.5, and Lvl 6 T-Maps to 115.0 that would give the lockpicking skill more worth. The LP PS would be more valuable, the Artifacts found in Lvl 6 T-Maps would have more value (Since less people would be able to get to them so quickly) and the Paragon Chests would be more of a challenge to open. (Of course a system like this would HINGE on the fact that Lvl 5 T-Maps would give gains upto AT LEAST 110, and Paragon Chests would give gains upto at least 115.)

Deedra, There are Prisoner camps in the same places in Fel as in Tram... that accounts for the other half that Yoda was refering.
Re: Lockpicking needs an adjustment
Ahh ok thanks Shota
Re: Lockpicking needs an adjustment
problem is that the artifact you get from them are normal paragon drops. so you could get them from just doing paragons. i like the idea that you can't open a paragon chest till 108. then make only certain paragon drops like blaze's and gloves of the pugilist in those chests only. it would stop people like me from harvesting 7 of them. would be a good ideaThe LP PS would be more valuable, the Artifacts found in Lvl 6 T-Maps would have more value (Since less people would be able to get to them so quickly)
