I've been sticking to the 80's and 90's mostly, but that's because i was born in 85. But i got some older stuff in line too. But for now, and even though i realize everyone on here has probably played this, I just had to put it up
Someone just told me about pillars of eternity, and holy moly do i want to start that, but given my current circumstance it will have to wait. Also i won't mind having expansions or whatever available when i do finally take a stab at it.
I recently got Wing commander 3 as a free give-away from Origin. I spent hours on that game. Love the whole series. My personal favorite was Wing Commander Armada. Playing head to head space combat before the internet was the internet. One of the great features is the ability to replace your taunts to the other player with your own personal .wav files. Taunting in Vader's voice "I have you now!" as I launch a missile at them. Too fun!!
this is all very distressing, all the old games and names I remember and played yet not 1 single mention of the game that started ALL of this. the first Wizardry by sir tech on the original Nintendo it started the video RPG genre. alas how soon we forget.

Hate to say this, but Wizardry's 1 through 5 all predate Nintendo as a company, and was actually written for the Apple (Actually in a cross platform Pascal language but since they had started in AppleBasic I'll assume they used Apple's)
and yet this insignificant detail does not address the salient point that wizardry in and of itself started the RPG genre and there was no mention of it. whether it started on the original Nintendo or on a pong screen is irrelevant
