Re: flu
I think we just need to keep calm and let this worry-storm go by. What all fears i've experienced just in my lifetime, starting from Chernobyl, but we all turned out alright. From what I read, this thing is no more contagious than any other thing that comes around (regular flu supposedly is responsible for 36K deaths every year in US alone), and i know for a fact that the media overblows these stories from time to time, in order to distract from some more important things going on. And if you haven't noticed, all of the media houses report identical stories every day, this is no different than OJ Simpson, Michael Jackson, (random article I just pulled from google: http://www.commondreams.org/views05/0616-23.htm).
Forget about all movies about how asteroids or viruses or giant tsunamis destroy humanity, those really don't help... and try your best to enjoy the day.

Sh** Colibri, this phrase is one desperation bringer, ain't it? I mean, telling people that is like telling them not to look down...+Colibri wrote: Forget about all movies about how asteroids or viruses or giant tsunamis destroy humanity, those really don't help... and try your best to enjoy the day.
Re: flu
Well since those movies are all fiction, if you look down you'll see there's no cliff, just stable ground as far as you can see.

Re: flu
hey the air we breathe everyday is killing us lol. even if you are a smoker or not ^-0. kinda worried abit though as it seems that this flu thing is becoming a bigger monster. its kind of scary. just shows ya how things can happen that could wipe out a civilization. i know thats not gonna happen but it seems to have happend kinda quickly. in the back of my mind i knda wonder if this was some sort of biological attack on diffrent countries of the world from some unknown orginization. well untill things have been figures out i have chosen to stay away from all pigs even in game. lol till further notice. bacon as well.... just kidding.
more seriously though i hope they get this thing in check before too many people get sick its a real drag to see this happen

Re: flu
People die every year from the standard flu, or as a result of it such as lowered immune causing pneumonia. Rarely gets reported as it isn't as sexy as a "mutated" flu. Someone in Mexico who had the flu came into contact with a pig with it's version of the flu and it caused mutation. That's the way it was explained to me.
Re: flu
Actually, what occurs is that a number of pigs develop a URI (upper respiratory infection) and this infection spreads amongst them without being treated. This infection then has the potential to mutate and begin effecting the human immune system. The virus began due to lack of proper care and treatment of the pigs. Unfortunately, the potential for any animal based infection or disease to mutate depends on how the animals are taken care of and treated for their illnesses.

Re: flu
The potential for a disease of any kind to mutate is completely up to chance. It either happens or it doesn't, it doesn't have to have some sort of specific stimuli to initiate it.
