Couple of key rules to live by when it comes to clicking on hyperlinks posted by individuals on this forum:
1.) Have updated antivirus protection enabled
2.) Hold your cursor over the link and determine if the URL at the bottom of the browser window or pop-up (depending on your browser) is a page you have visited before and trust, or is related to the content outlined in the post
3.) Look for prior thread posts the link sharer has made. If that person is an established community discussion participant in many threads, then chances are they more trustworthy (Notice I said "chances are"). Personally, I would avoid clicking on any link that is posted by a "Passer By" account.
4.) Our monitoring of the forum is regular (not constant), and our addressing of issues is reactionary. Therefore, there exists a likelihood of undesirable content occasionally being posted on our forum that remains for a period of time until staff has a chance to remove it. These posts can expose community members to content that is undesired and/or damaging [adware, virus, etc.]. Please, Please, PLEASE exercise caution when clicking links, downloading files, and viewing/remaining on threads created by new accounts that have large, slow loading images posted.
We are not responsible for your clicking links or downloading material that is referenced on our forum. But, I feel the need to at least give you a fair warning and some signs to look for when determining the safety of viewing such material.
Thanks,
+V
