InHome secures : Itemcounts and Weight limits?

Post by TammrLyn »

Hi Folks,
I'm new to the shard ( about a week old) and so far, I'm having a great time. However, I've finally gotten a small home, and started accumulating junk :) , and seem to have run into something I don't really understand.

Every other shard I've played on has had the "standard" itemcount and weight limits for any container secured in your house - i.e. 125 items, no weight limit (60K stones really, i think - essentially no weight limit).

On Excelsior, so far I have run into :

Backpacks secured in a home seem to have an approximate 400 stone weight limit.
Small boxes (the lockpicking type) secured seem to have a 55 item count limit.
These are *secured* not just locked down.

When I asked one of the New Player helpers - I was told that 'Yes, different container types have different limits'. The person wasn't sure of the details, and they also thought that the material used to make the container might have an effect.

I've searched the Wiki and the Forums, and the only reference I have found is an old post by +Colibri stating that secured containers in a home act like a bankbox - (125 items/60K weight)
From May 2009
+Colibri wrote:Well our system is pretty solid, stacks can be max 60.000 of an item (that's a limitation of the client), as for weight limit well it tells you when it's reached :) Usually unlimited for your bank box and secured containers. Othervise kind of default is 400 stones.
- which doesn't seem to hold true any longer

Can anyone out there illuminate me (and the rest of us newbs) any further on this issue? Or point me where I could find out more information?

I'm pretty sure that there's no weight limit to secures -- I just smelted a couple hundred K of ore that I had in a secure, and that's a crazy amount of weight (this was in a petrified wooden chest, but still, we're talking many thousands of stone). So I'd say that the limit is on item count only, unless bags are somehow different from chests.

Hello TammrLyn,

I actually did an extensive study into weight limits when I found out the exact thing you are speaking of, however I seem to have lost all my notes >< (it was back when I first started). Here is what I can tell you though. For Item Limits, there is a set amount for each object you are using I don't recall exactly but I believe all backpacks (unless there is a special type I am overlooking) will hold the lowest grade of wood in items (i.e. 60 items). As for boxes they are scaled from the lowest grade of wood (60 items) to the highest grade of wood (125 items). There are special types of boxes as well that all hold 125 items these include paragon chests, shipwreck chests, and ancient shipwreck chest (no tag, just colored like Petri logs). There are also a few boxes that have been given out as donation awards that hold 1000 items but are fairly rare to come by (they are called "A stronger wooden box" and have the donation date attached). As for weight count, that one is a bit tougher :p. For the boxes I have no clue, I have never hit a weight limit on my boxes but I have also never went above 10k stones in a single box (right now my highest is 7,933 for my mage scroll box). As for the bags, it is a bit confusing and I never came across an official weight limit (for the same reason as the boxes). I have noticed though that backpacks seem to have a low limit seeing as I keep all my shrunk pets in backpacks for sorting and it will not allow more weight fairly fast (possibly due to the coding of a player's backpack not allowing more than 4xx stones?), however the other two types of bags (bag and pouch) have a much higher level of weight. I have one bag that is holding 5k stones (this is for my fishsteaks :p).

I wish I could give you all the notes I took once before but maybe this will help in getting an idea of the full scope. Alas, I no longer have the time to drag and drop to get each individual count; but if you have said time I will be happy to give all the products you need to do it.

Oops, I forgot that I encountered a weight limit in the bags I use to organize my bank. So there does seem to be a weight limit to bags. Try wooden chests in your house instead, I guess, since I've seen no weight limit with them.
