It doesn't want the first 3, it wants the first 2. It pretty much wants the first block.
Always has.
I started using the Large Addy Aware, and don't have any troubles starting either.
Still the occasional crash if the game is left minimized though.

That seems to have done the trick but I still say there's more to it because as shown in the SS I was only using 1.1 out of the 8 installed...if it needs to be in the first 2 it had PLENTY of space.Nyrin wrote:try this:

It literally wants the first bit of memory that is available to programs to start up in.Annachie wrote:It doesn't want the first 3, it wants the first 2. It pretty much wants the first block.

What it is looking for is the first 2mb of Virtual Ram not your physical ram in the machine.Annachie wrote:It literally wants the first bit of memory that is available to programs to start up in.Annachie wrote:It doesn't want the first 3, it wants the first 2. It pretty much wants the first block.

From my understanding, Ultima has to load the whole thing into memory, and then drop what it doesn't need. To do this, it needs the first 2 gigs of RAM in your system (because this is all it recognizes) . Lets pretend for a moment, UO needed exactly 1GB to load. In your example, you're using 1.1 out of 2. It would fail to load, since 2 - 1.1 = .9 which is less than the 1 it needed to load.
