I am 86 fishing and fishing in deep sea off Skara Brae but have not fished up any Serpents despite fishing for hours

What am I doing wrong ?

Probably just being unlucky. (Not the stat)
You'll probably get better results when you get to the 100 mark or higher.
From memory I got next to nothing until I got over 100

although you can fish up serpants at your level it works way better to be trained to at least gm and if at all possible 120 fishing, then it works like gangbusters

I am at 100 Fishing now and still nothing.

I will try to get to 120 and see if that makes any difference

I noticed an increase in serps at 120.

Most serps will contain a lvl 1 map, followed by plain colored nets and finally mibs.
Expect to fish for many hours before you get an ancient sos.

I don't know if luck gear has an influence on the mib rate. Never tested it.

not sure of skill to get consistent rate of serps but believe u need at least 90 (maybe 80) to have even a chance. i find more when i fish within 10 to 15 tiles of a north south server line myself though gl let us know how it goes

can you guys fish moving the boat in my case it say that i need to be closer to water

i am at 115 skill and fished 2 hrs yesterday had 2 serpents not deep sea serpent just the normal ones lol

can anyone say how to fish while moving the ship ?

On osi this was/is possible because grids are 8x8 tiles.

We have 6x6 grids. Fishing while moving is not possible because by the time you can pull the fish you have moved out of the grid. Because you have entered another 6x6 grid You get the error message.

never tried but maybe you can fish moving to the sides, cause the boat moves slower this way.

Our mining grid is 6 but our lumberjacking grid is 4
