Crafting Rewards

Today I did 6 val SBods for Val hoping to get armor of crafting.. I did get some... However, i got 4 gorgets and two +10 hammers.. so i stopped, and went back to filling iron bods...
the rewards were the same. Of about 30 iron SBods i got mostly sturdy picks or shovels but I also got 5, +1 tunics...
this is putting a serious cramp in being able to put together sets to sell.. does anyone know how to get different types? Do i need to log out and back in to get a different reward? Whats the secret to getting a different reward??? meaning instead of doing all my Val bods and having 8 gorgets, how do i also get pants tunics gloves sleeves etc?
Mining/Smithing is already pretty cramped and unrewarding this is adding a serious downer to my chosen profession. Thx for any help. Knite

Ouch! There goes your luck again.
I have not done enough to really know. But i did manage to get an assortment of things over time.
To me it seems like time and luck could eventually get you a well deserved set. But I don't think it would be worth the effort or stress to try and brute force a set.
You may be better off trying to buy, sell and swap pieces along with doing bods to get a set.

Aye, to make it worse, i just did two more got another gorget, AND to make matters even worse, instead of getting the plus 15 smithing hammer i got a plus ten, which isnt even listed as a reward for a 20 Val plate SBod... something is really screwy..

kk, adding to the list... 5/20 exc blaze SBods i got 4 caps and one +10 hammer so far. 4/10 exc blaze SBods have given me 4 sleeves..
thats beyond just me having bad luck as usual. there isnt any excuse for getting the same reward for a particular bod EVERY time.. unfortunately there arent enough bods to see if i can put a set together from doing different levels of the specific bods.
i can see doing 20 bods and getting five or six sleeves, two or three helms, a couple legs, three or four tunics etc... but having them drop ALL one type EVERY bod definitely ruins the fun and the reason for doing them... no wonder so few people do bods and even fewer mine

Coli recently posted the actual script that the site uses to reward BODs. The reward type for cratfing gear is definitely random, but I have seen the same thing. On one day, I'll fill 40 BODs and get all tunics, then a week later I'll fill another 50 and get all caps. There does seem to be an issue with random generator that is being used. The random number generator seed it uses must reuse the same seed value, or the place the the seed value is coming from isn't getting changed the way the system intends.

Thanks ticketguru!
Here is where he gives the script:
http://www.uoex.net/forum/viewtopic.php ... ipt#p12595
He also suggests that he may be open for additions if they are not too powerfull and someone can do it.
I would say for a start there could be chances added for power scrolls to blacksmith and tailoring like there are in the other bod types.

The crafting BOD rewards definitely need some tweaks to get properly balanced for the effort needed in getting a complete large BOD finished. The value of the runics are overrated because they are so much easier to get from elementals. The smith BODs need to reward a small amount of ingots at the lowest levels similar to the carp BODs. The smith BODs also need to to give the PS for blacksmith and mining; this is even more important since the PS are harder to get now. The carp BODs definitely need a fix because the house nails don't even exist on the shard, so that doesn't give a reward there.

Aye, I have suggested making +2 and +4 armor of crafting as well. if you look at Daat's reward table most rewards are set up with only two specific rewards, a couple have three rewards. take those that have only two rewards and add the third.
PS's, and armor of crafting would draw a lot more people into doing bods that use the useless ingots without unbalancing anything. Even I could script the armor so i know It would only Take Coli 3 minutes to do it.
Adding ingots "Might" be just another useless reward.. depending on if they are made useful by the bods.
Right now the low end iron bods we all fill out (iron 10/15) to try to convert them to a good colored bod give a sturdy shovel/pick or smiths hammer and a bit of gold.. thats not to bad for those.
iron 20 has a chance for armor of crafting one. Very good here too.. it still wouldnt hurt to add in a 10% ? Chance to get 100 or 200 Iron ingots?
Small Dull Bods still fall into the range of 410 to 450 points (if exceptional) up to 400 chance of +1 armor, sturdy shove/pick and prospectors tool.. still not bad, but also could add chance of iron ingots in return to make it more interesting.. at the 450 level though, we have the powder of temperment. this reward I struggle for and buy bods for, imho one of the best rewards there is in the entire list, and you get it for doing 20 exc dull or 10 exc shadow ???? guess I can't complain about that!!!
Then, from 500 to 700 points, there is nothing worth getting, and no reason to do the bods unless you want some junk runics or a few deco items.. there is also the colored forge and colored anvil that you will want to get one or two of to show off..
once you have a few of the deco, you totaly ignore every ingot color within this range. This is where the addition of the +2 armor of crafting would come in and add some possible use to ingots within this range.
From 750 to 850 you have the chance for armor of crafting 3, which is worth the struggle and worth selling, except that you cant get random drops for it.. making it of dubious value if you are filling bods hoping for something to sell. crafting armor sells well, IF you dont have ten pieces all the same type... here you could add in the 110 BS PS.. Scrolls are getting VERY expencive VERY fast, and with a chance to get the 110 PS it would be a worthwhile effort to get these bods for use or for resale.
From 900 to 1050 you have a sort of limbo land, with some smithing hammers and dye tubs that sell for a little, but they certainly dont sell for enough to justify the struggle to mine these colors. the plus 30 hammer being the only decent sell of teh group. The 900 to 1050 range would be a good place to drop the 115 PS. it is also the last range at 1050 that you can Fill with a single BOD, 1050 being an exceptional 20 Plat bod that drops junk. Smithers protector sounds like the ultimate and most awesome weapon there could be for a smith.. until you see it and realize the only thing cool about it is the name. Even so you need one to lock down on the floor... One day I might add SC and luck and a lvl deed to one and see what I can do with it...
100 and up are the reward goals of the entire BOD project. However, as we already know, the Runics are "close" to worthless except the Plat runic, and it is MUCH easier to kill elementals than it is to struggle for MONTHS to get that Plat bod filled for the plat Runic reward item. the armor of crafting +5 is every smith, and miners dream, and the sharpening blade makes me drool.. the let down when you get a plat runic instead of a sharpening blade is pretty much uncomparable to any other let down in the game. MONTHS of struggle, and perhaps even MILLIONS in gold spent to fill that bod for something you couldhave gotten in a few minutes of digging.... the runics are not a good reward, nor are the bag of resources for the amount of time and effort required. adding the 120 PS woudl help, but something else is needed. replace the bag of resources With +6 smith/mining gear? maybe a spell channeling tool that lets you add SC to 5 weapons? it sounds overpowered, until you realize how FEW truely high end bods get done in a month.. or even a YEAR.. i have prob not heard of them all, but I have heard of only three in the year I have been playing.. add to that the % chance to get the runic, the smith gear or the sharpening blade and the odds of such a tool are reduced further, while at the same time the desire to struggle and get one would be very great.
The last thing I would say is this. Get RID of the elemental's, and make people earn their runics through the bods...
We have talked in another thread about making ores rotate as per Coli's suggestion, but i think getting rid of the Eles and restructuring the bods would make a lot more of the rewards worthy. We may all still use plat armor, but we would have to use whatever runic we had available to make it with. people would again have a reason to do BOD's, buy ingots, and mine.

You did, but it sounded like "Let's just change everything around and see if it's any better."
I'm sceptical of these big, sweeping changes. Usually they create unforseeable problems that require more big, sweeping changes ... ad nauseum.

Probably another one of my not so popular opinions but I agree that elementals giving runics makes them worth less. Though I think the elementals should stay but not give out the runics. Then people would still have some reason to use the garg stuff.

i killed some lame monster today with one shot and it dropped ~800 gold... comparing the effort, i wish i could sell iron ingots for 100 gold each, but it's impossible because BOD rewards are lame, and there is an NPC vendor for iron ingots too.

The problem with removing runics is the effect it will have on what I believe is an already thin runic armor market. From my experience it is already a hard slog finding a decent vendor with only a handful regularly stocking runic armour. The removal of easy to obtain hammers will drive prices up as evident in the recent powerscroll market.
I think an improvement in the bod rewards will make people take up mining again and also see an increase in value of lesser ores.
I think a simple solution for lack of miners is to completely remove npcs selling iron ingots. The way it stands there will always be a ceiling price as "npcs sell em for 15".
