"Problems Communicating with Origin"

Post by Astro »

I just re-downloaded the patched client, and decided to play UOEX again after about a year or two.

But every time I try to log in, I get "There is some problem communicating, ..." This happened last night, too.

I can log into Portal with no problem. :( I don't know what's going on.

I've always run it as admin. I'm using Razor, which I've had no problems with in the past when I played here, and I'm not having any issues out of the other UO shards & the clients I use for them. :(

for razor, are u directing to the right folder for uo, and using "shard.uoex.net " and port 60 you might have the spellign on a word mispelled. usually the case, just double check it

Path is correct
Razor runs as admin
Shard IP & port are also correct

I've even tried this without Razor, running the client both normally and as admin, and still get the same errors. I checked login for a mismatch, but everything looks good. Firewall allows the program. I've never had this happen before.

Actually, I figured out what happened. When I tried to log in, I forgot my old username and account password (It's been about 1-2yrs since I've logged in), so it auto-created a new account with what I typed in. I need to figure out how to get this new one that I didn't mean to create nixed so I can log in with my old one.

Best if you e-mail +Colibri and describe the issue. Most likely he's the only person that can help you.

Hrm, is there a better email address I can use?

I sent an email to ca@uoex.net with my issue on the 7th, but haven't heard a word from anyone.

Patience is a virtue. Some people have been waiting weeks or months to have their issues resolved. +Colibri has a busy personal life and is not always available to help everyone on the spot.

Oh, and no, there is no "better" e-mail. There is only one that everyone uses.

I appreciate the general follow-up, but there's no need to be condescending.
I'm not sure what the harm was in asking, especially since I don't know everyone's schedule or how many have access to resolving the issues, or if they had other support email addresses that I'd overlooked.

I was not condescending*, but perhaps the wording was not the best. I still blame teh Internetz for being so bad ad conveying message tone. I just wanted to give you an idea of how long of a haul you're in for.

*Except for the "Patience..." part, that was intentionally ironic. Kill me for it.
