Bee hive maintenance

Post by Bardkin »

I have a confusion I'd like to get cleared up.

So I have all my bee hives out there, they are all performing as they should and I keep on top of applying the right pots at the right time. ( I do it manually as the script doesnt seem to work on my computer- another thread..)
HOWEVER-
I have been told by more than one person that the potions you apply are used by the bee hive once every 24 hours based on when you initially set them- so If I originally set it up at 8:00 pm, apply the pots, then I need to apply more as soon AFTER 8:00 pm the following day.

If this is true, why then do I see bee hives with 0 on all the potions less than 12 hours after I applied the potions before? What is the real answer here? When do the hives "refresh"? Should I wait even though the hives all have 0?

I have been told it is all based on server save times but the math isn't adding up here.

Thanks for any clarification.

the bees reset each day at the same time which is the world save time right after you placed the hives eg if you placed them at 5:34 they should reset at the 6:00 world save and other than the first 12 hours they reset every 24 hours

This is strange. What i am seeing doesnt coincide with what you and others have said.

I originally posted this right after I did my maintenance. about 2:00 or so my time. It is now 9:00 my time and several more hives are calling for potions, but not all of them. Also I did make note of a few that were questionable based on my tearing down and re deeding them, but a couple of those 5 are calling for pots.

So, basically, I believe that some of the hives are using their pots at random world saves, but not all. I will map out which ones are ready for maintenance and which aren't, then reply tomorrow am with a new map showing the changes.

X= doesnt need maintenance, 0= needs maintenance.

0 x 0 x x
x x 0 0 x
. . . .x x
x x 0 x x
x 0 0 x 0

I will now apply all the potions, let's see if tomorrow morning around 9:00 am if I get opposite results.

if u were taking the hives down and putting them back at different times than the original ones were placed...each group would be on a different timer and have different times each day that they reset.

You know, its the only explanation that seems to work, but I typically have been doing my hives all in the evenings, as I work during the days. (except this week). But, here is my comparison anyway. It is 11:13 am my time.

x= no maintenance, 0= needs maintenance

x x x 0 x
x 0 x x x
.......0 0

This is clearly different than it should be. I will check again tonight. if they are all screwy again I will tear them all down and restart them. ( After I harvest, of course!)

Server Reboots/restarts can (and do) mess up the timers for whatever reason. One time, i had half my bees at one time, and the other half several hours later because of a crash/reboot.

Apply pine needles, to reset them all to the same schedule. But you'll lose a day of productivity doing so. This is a much better option than starting all over :) although, quite a bit more expensive.

Pine needles you say... I had been under the impression they only put your hives to sleep while you were away in RL. I didnt know they reset the timers as well. I will try that, thanks!
