Re: Summer Deco Contest
Good luck to all who entered! There are some really talented builders out there, you guys blew me away! :D
Re: Summer Deco Contest
yeah really creative stuff some beautiful homes
Re: Summer Deco Contest
I'm really quite blown away by all the entries, and it is hard to decide as some places need time to explore before I vote.
Any chance of extending the voting time to include a weekend ? Some places have details that you miss if you have a quick weeknight fly through.

Re: Summer Deco Contest
The anticipation is absolutely killing me. :) Does anyone know when the winner will be announced?
Re: Summer Deco Contest
The results are in!
Entries were scored based on creativity in the execution of the stated theme, the overall success of the theme (was it accurately portrayed with the materials used, did it make sense, etc), attention to detail, and the overall aesthetics within the theme.
The winners are:
First Place: Baby Spendy - Mystery Island Adventure - 14pts
Second Place: Ishamael - Ship on the Open Sea - 13 pts
Third Place: Lestat A Zero - Egyptian Tomb - 8 pts
Honorary Mentions:
Pek - Lake House - 6 pts
Mystic Rose - Floral Nursery - 5 pts
Kip - 3-D Map - 4 pts
The winner of the player vote is: Lestat A Zero
Prizes will be distributed tonight or tomorrow, as I get time.
I will likely not have time to hold another deco contest for a month or two, but I'll announce when I'm planning one and it will show up on the calendar of events. I'm also not sure how I will handle future player votes, as I've noticed that several contestants were soliciting votes from other players and that goes against the spirit of the event. It is not meant to be a popularity contest, and I was not pleased to see that one of the runners-up in the player vote only had so many because they'd harangued people into going to vote for them without weighing the merits of the other entries.
That said, this iteration of the deco contest had some of the most fun and creative entries I've seen in awhile, I really enjoyed seeing that some of our newer players entered with highly creative themes that they executed really thoughtfully and interestingly. We really enjoyed browsing all of the entries this round, we spent quite a bit of time wandering them, reading the books, discovering all the little hidden surprises y'all put out. Very well done, everyone!

Re: Summer Deco Contest
Ooh, forgot to mention: I'll be looking for another (possibly 2 more) players to build something for Elysium. I haven't decided how I'll select those players yet, but I'll let y'all know once I do.
Re: Summer Deco Contest
Congrats :D to all and thanks again for the awesome contest :D
Re: Summer Deco Contest
I'll second Scuba and say that it was an awesome contest. So many great ideas and the level of detail was amazing! House deco is one of the greatest things about UO and I'm glad we have a shard that encourages creative thinking.
Thank you +Nyx for putting it together and a big congratulations to the contest winners. They were really amazingly thought out themes! Can't wait for the next contest.

Re: Summer Deco Contest
Congratulations to Ishamael, Baby Spendy and Lestat!
Also congrats to all the honorable mentions. :)
Wanted to say thank you +Nyx for the chance to participate and for the great event.
My favorite part was voting for our favorites and it is a shame there was some self promoting going on. Personally I voted for my favorite which was baby spendy's. I thought she went above and beyond the call of creativity with her plot.
All in all I enjoyed decorating, went with something simple this time and not so cluttered as my Easter Deco was for the Spring contest.
Thanks again for a wonderfully ran event and congratulations to all the winners. :)

Re: Summer Deco Contest
Congrats! I too was impressed with all of the entries. I need to step my deco up for the next contest or perhaps hire someone with more skills to carry out the vision...or maybe bribe the judges...so much to think about...
Re: Summer Deco Contest
Very fun contest +Nyx, I loved being able to show off the house. I have had that house themed that way for a long time, but it was great to be able to share with the shard. Some very talented decorators on this shard. Congratz to the other winners!!
