Economy Crashing

Economy is crashing irl and in game it seems.

Prices are going haywire.

Vendors are crudding it up everywhere

I don't see a good vendor with decent items and they probably don't sell a thing and lose money from the ridickulous amount of money charged at town center, trinsic, and zento

Most vendors need to be removed in my opinion....worthless players that keep them running for no reason...

Crafting is busted up. Why is there no enhancing here? Do people know what I mean when I say enhance?

I think the weekly charge needs to be removed and crafting needs a leg up.

Lets be real....an ethereal....ETHEREAL sewing kit sells for 25k for 5 uses. thats absurd considering the items you will get from it are not worth 5k....which makes it pretty much stupid to buy or find.

Jewelry seems to have the ability to put 9 stats on a ring which are all junk anyways half the time but still can't sell em...

OK while I agree with some of the issues you pointed out. Please be less confrontational about how you bring them up. The staff here is not paid and they work very hard to provide a shard to us for free. +Nyx and +V especially spend alot of their time here working on things for players.

Admittedly the crafting is not the strength of this shard but do you have any suggestions for fixing it?

As far as vendors go, why would you denigrate people for maintaining one, if the economy is so bad any money they sink into it helps. There is no downside to people maintaining a profitless vendor.

Once again you have some legitimate concerns just please give a little respect to people who work hard. This shard may have some issues but it is still the best I have found and I have played UO since a year out of Beta.

1- Maybe you dont have a real appreciation of what is valuable in UO. Vendors are just fine and you can use vendors.uoex.net to find especific items. And the price is right, believe me, after many years seeing them going up and down now they seem to me like they've reached a balance between price, availabilty and effort required to get them.

2- The server has been great and able to maintain a large player base for almost 10 years. So staff must be doing something right.

3- I dont know what new players u are talking to, but i'd bet my right pinkie toe that mistavle talk happens every single day in world chat, so thats not on veterans or staff (also there's a tireless effort to encourage newcomers to read the wiki thoroughly, and there u can find all that info u say its not addequatly spread)

4- The rents on vendors are really really low. 1 run at an easy dungeon like youmutsu mines and ur vendor is paid for the week.

5- And how come almost every single time someone is ridicolously fired up about something in the server it happens to be their first post?

Please be patient and you'll discover that UOEX is a really balanced UO experience. Hope you can get pass this first impression and realize how happy u can be here

EDIT: I do have to agree that some players try to sell things at ridicolous high prices, like "legacy of the dread lord" for over a 100k (just an example), but thats not hurting you, but themselves, cause almost any item u desire is going to be available a t a normal rate, or if not, it will be in some weeks time, just be patient about that too.

While i don't really have anything else to say about the topic as i don't use vendors that much nor do i have one, and i was too old to enter mistvale when it came out, i must address the importance of being patient. Times change, economy changes, irl and in-game. I remember when i started, bone crushers, for example, were sold for 60k or cheaper, and now they go for what, 3 mil?

Are vendors worth it? Yes! I make a decent profit with my vendor mall. I stock vendors with what players are needing. I also offer free vendors so this weekly rent you are talking about doesn't apply. If you are only looking at TC and MZ, then yes... prices are high but there are so many options. you just need to broaden your horizons a bit. I've had people say they didn't want to place a vendor at my place because it wasn't as busy as the "public places".... They are right. but I know very few players who haven't shopped my mall.

There is enhancing, but it fails. A lot. If you get something good, its better to level it, and spend points to improve it, than to almost certainly lose it by enhancing it.

I don't know how all these newbies have no idea what Mistvale is, since people are always talking about it in world chat. Plus it has a big section on the wiki. At least 2 of the items are raffled off on the trinsic raffle tables as well.

I do think rent is a little high, but you're paying for a premium location, and service. (Can use the stone to pop right to the vendor, plus free listing on vendors.uoex.net).

Mallan, I'm not sure I can improve much on the remarks of the folks who posted before me. Pretty much every newbie knows about Mistvale, if you managed to find one who didn't, you found a rare one indeed. Mistvale is discussed in world chat every day, as someone else mentioned; and it has a prominent place in the new player's section of the wiki, which all new players get told to read (usually many, many times lol).

As someone else mentioned, it doesn't matter at all if someone loses money on a vendor, that's their own fault and they'll learn their lesson eventually.

If you had simply asked, someone would have told you that crafting will be getting attention and updates from the staff at some point after our current projects are completed. +Veritas' project will have ways to improve gear, as will my own.

Also, if you had simply asked, we could have told you that +C has been considering lowering the overall rent fees for the TC/MZ public vendor areas. There will be an announcement when/if that change is made. The weekly charges exist because these are prime, high traffic vendor locations and because vendors in these areas are listed on our vendors.uoex.net website - allowing for buyers to easily find the items on these vendors.

As for the staff not putting in thought or time.. that's just a ludicrous, unfounded, insulting and extremely disrespectful statement to make. Your confrontational, insulting tone in your entire post was inappropriate - please keep things calm and civil when you participate in the community. And try not to insult the people who volunteer immense chunks of their time - for free - to support and expand this shard, and whose help you're likely to need at some point in the future. It's just not a good way to get started in our community.

Only thing I'm going to add since honestly as a house with 3 new players 2 of whom has never played UO before none of us have experience of the OP. I mean read the Wiki it's there for a reason.

If players are getting to the level of Mistvale and have no idea how to get there... then they need to learn about "[c" General chat is the best place (after Wiki) to get information. Staff should not have to hand-hold players. That's what the community is for... to ask questions. All anyone has to do is say [c Hey! I'm a new player. Can someone show me where the newbie dungeon is? And then sit back and watch the flood of information popping up in their journal. This is not the job of our staff (who does a LOT for no pay!). But even before general chat... if a player reads the "New Players" page (It's even called that!) on the Wiki... it explains exactly how to get to the new player dungeon! So maybe instead of attacking our staff for not "putting thought and/or time to make sure players have a great start"... you actually read what they HAVE done to make sure "players have a great start". It is there for a reason.

No reason to get "very mad". But if you want a shard where you aren't spoon fed the info on a Wiki that's there for everyone to read... this may not be the place for you. Otherwise, welcome to the shard and remember players that have been around a bit do have a lot of the answers... but they may not always be what you want to hear, because if we KNOW the info is on the WIKI, the reply back may be "Read the Wiki!"

I don't expect handholding...and ETA is great.... but ultima is a B...and everyone knows it. It has only gotten more complex...and OOPS moments can make it very hard to continue...

I would've loved to play with you back in the early days. Back when someone would say something like "Hey, let's be best friends. I have a house you can have for free. Follow me!" only to lead you to Brit X-roads to murder you and take every possession you owned from your corpse. Or that moment when you finally got something worthwhile and you're in a mad dash to the safety of the guards only to be set upon by some PK campers who argue over who gets your head and gear to add to their collection of hundreds of such items. It took you months, if not years, to be able to build the skills and gear to survive confidently in the wild and even the you knew you weren't truly safe. If this non-PVP shard with GM to legendary skills possible within hours and a god mode (220 dex) that is obtainable in a few months is too difficult to survive, perhaps you need to check your expectations? It seems you're more concerned with getting rich quick than actually playing the game. One point I agree on, the rent in TC is exorbitant. While I kind of like it because when TC is stocked with vendors, it kind of sucks to load all that (used to be TC lag), it is the most highly trafficked place. The few vendors that remain there are mostly empty and it's just a waiting game for them to be moved. Sure, you can make 100k fairly quickly, but it's more about having to stock the kind of items that would warrant such a price.

I could not give a rats ass about pricing...I 230 dex and have 10s of millions of gold...the 30k a month to me doesn't matter for CRAP to me...I just see vendors putting up CRAP and wondering why they are not making money and it is because newbs don't get help from anyone but ETA and Ernie...jesus flippin mahoganies...wake up....

This is not a complaint from the perspective you are looking at it...I like a thriving shard with a good economy....the middle class runs the economy and I see HAVEs and HAVENOTS..meaning lower lower lower class(people with 100k or less to their name) and people like me who have everything that they need and get bored so they help newbies only to find out I AM ONE OF ONLY 2 DARN PEOPLE WHO CARE!!!

FYI, I help newbies regularly. Not by showering them with items, but by sharing knowledge and being friendly. If I encounter a player with Young status still, I will likely give them 100k. Just the other day I made some newbies day by showing them same large sheep pens so they can work their tailoring.

Honestly Mallam, your messages are coming off like you are more interested in inciting a flame war than actually trying to improve things. Maybe that's not the case, but it does appear that way.
