Luck
Re: Luck
i guess that's a gamble we all take
part of making a decision for your char on a custom level. we strive to get the most we can and psychologically feel that it makes a difference
just like all the many speculations about what makes spells work better, eating food, drinking water, blessing yourself first? lol. its just part of the mystery imo

Re: Luck
I think the original intent Tribecca is getting at, is 400 luck per item, Great! But why spend the exta ED for 6400 luck if the cap is 5000? thats 1400 luck thats wasted time, effort, and money.
Cap (Not personal cap, But Coded or Scripted Cap) meaning what was written into the scropts as Where the luck ends or runs out, where the rainbow hits the ground etc
I too would like to know where to draw the line!!

Re: Luck
While normally I would agree with the mystery part of your statement, I think this is a little different because people are considering donating REAL MONEY$$ for something that might not even benefit there character. Just seems unfair if the effects arnt worth the ED.Llexa wrote:i guess that's a gamble we all takepart of making a decision for your char on a custom level. we strive to get the most we can and psychologically feel that it makes a difference

Re: Luck
Well, explaining *how* luck effects all the different systems, that are affected by luck, would be a lot to write about, also there needs to be some mystery in the game which I would not like to reveal.
What i can say is that each of the systems has a different formula for calculating the luck (doom artifacts, paragon chests, extracting DNA, ...) so, for example: having more luck might not effect your chance of getting a doom artie, but might effect the DNA success chance.
From the last time i was studying the formulas, I can say that luck is not linear - the doom artifact chance is logarithmic, combined with all sorts of variables. That means that increasing luck from 500 to 1000, isn't the same as 2000 to 2500. In rough estimate, getting your luck to about 1500-2000, makes the most difference for the effort that you put in. Having 5000 luck is still better than 4000, in most cases, but it's a lot more effort, and the benefit you get is less significant.
I hope I didn't get anything wrong when i was exploring the scripts that calculate luck, but from what i seen, there is no luck cap.

Re: Luck
well, even though i understand your statement, its still part of the mystery to the game imo. also, people dont have to spend real money on the deeds if they dont want. they can save ED from in game or bid on them at auctions. i mean, what's next, we want to find out how much armor rating each creature we fight has so we know the tricks to fighting it better? lol. no, we just go out there and with experience we come up with the best way, just like we come up with the best totals for luck based on experience we all share with each other. i dunno, im still calling mystery for the win, lol.Jillmuffit wrote:While normally I would agree with the mystery part of your statement, I think this is a little different because people are considering donating REAL MONEY$$ for something that might not even benefit there character. btw, you playing here again Jill?

Re: Luck
Awsomeness, tyvm fof that info, without revealing too much it was still exactly what i wanted to know. tyvm!!!
Yes people are spending real money on it, but, they dont have to, thats a personal choice based on thier own hopes and guesses. I often see someone ask about a SC deed or where to find a druid book, and the invitable answer is... "You have to donate." That is not true, as Llex said, buying the ED with in game gold is a very real possablitiy. it takes a bit of dedication and time, but then, anything of value in this game takes dedication and time.
