Price check thread discussion.

I am planing on starting a thread for price checks to be asked and answered by players.
Since there may be people wanting to discuss and voice their opinion about it I though I would start this thread first. That way it can be discussed here and the main thread can be used only for its purpose.
Here are my thoughts so far:
The thread will simply be players either asking for a price check or giving a suggested price on a requested price check. There will probably need to be some format to follow to help aid in making it searchable.
I know this is already possible on the chat but many of these requests go unanswered and are asked over and over. If asked on the forum then prices can be searched using the forum search function and people would not have to ask over and over. However if the search result for a price check is old then the player could choose to post a new price check in an attempt to get a more current price.
Originally I planned on having an archive of price check results in the first few posts of the thread. Since people have stated that a list may not be a good idea, I have decided to leave that part out. This way there will not be a list of prices to check in one place but searching for the price of an item could give a result.
People could also browse the whole thread but it would not be very organized or efficient.
One major hurdle I see is that it will take the cooperation of many people to make it work. Including people that have knowledge of prices in the game (me not being one of them). This community has not let me down so far so I am sure there will be plenty of people willing to help
Another hurdle will be getting people to the forums to use it. I personally would like to see the forums be alot more active. So having something like this to direct people to when asking for price checks on the chats could get more people active on the forums.
At this point I would really like to hear peoples thoughts and opinions.
Do you think its a bad idea? Why?

Would you reply to a posted price check if you know the price?
