Is character creation disabled? Trying to create a character, make all my skill/appearance/name choices and the game hangs at the "Creating character..." screen.

Thanks to my TechNet subscription I have Windows 7 Ultimate up and running. It's less of a system resource hog than Vista and I can see an obvious performance difference. Go Win 7! Haven't had much time to play since setting it to XP SP2 mode on Vista to see if that fixes it. Has anybody else?

Is anybody seeing flashes that is not using Vista?
Going to try running all three applications in XP SP2 Compatibility mode to see if that helps.
