I've made a similar post a while back but I need to re-post because there's been a high number of such help requests lately.

The server does not eat items or pets.
If you have lost something, you have either misplaced it, forgot to lock it down, or someone else took it (with access to the secured container in your house, or to your account), or it had been damaged in fight so severely that it has dissolved... If your pet is missing, you either didn't feed it enough, or logged off while it was not mounted or shrunken or stabled, and had therefor gone wild.

I have now made numerous investigations into different kinds of claims about how millions of gold, maxed pets, great gear... has gone missing. Till now, I have not yet found a case where the item simply vanished without a trace.
Each investigation takes hours to piece together what exactly happened... to load each backup near the time it was lost, to search the different kinds of logs and put it all into meaning. With the numerous other things needing my attention lately, and with probably one claim of missing items every day, there's simply no way I could investigate all of it. And even if i did, so far all claims turned out to be something with a really simple explanation.

So please, if you have lost something, please please do not PM me saying it's a bug, because it's not.

Rescuing items and pets from a backup
We keep hourly backups for the past 3 months, and daily backups for the past year. This takes at least an hour of Coordinating administrator's time, plus the concentration and coordination to find your items and check for various irregularities, hence the price.
- Initial price: 100 excelsior dollars
- Each item or pet: 10 excelsior dollars (11th and further items are free)
- Keeping the test server online for 6 hours so that you can re-make your house: 100 excelsior dollars

As +Colibri stated... Ive made the SAME mistakes, and thought the same 'they just vanished' but it turns out I forgot to lockdown/feed pets/etc ... It happens, and when it does, save up your EDs. Theres alot of things i want to see implemented, and with things like this that pop up, those 'new ideas' get pushed back, and I intend to have all the patience that the world can give to wait for these New Ideas... I am a vet, and have done everything this shard has offered (except participating in V's events... bad timing). The ones that have been here for a few months may not understand the older players here, but alot of our old friends have 'left' because theres Nothing to do... So hearing these new plans for Excelsior, new spawns, etc, etc... Were excited, and to the newer ones who are not at our stage yet, everthing is new to you... So in other words, Listen to the guy, hes overwhelmed with so many projects, that we are so happily waiting for. He made these player services for us, so use them! .... And as he stated, dont pm him and say its a bug, because its not.

Thank you for your time. I speak for most people, Our appriciation towards the Staff, and Admins, that deal with us on a daily basis, with the patience and love to put on a smile and keep going, and Not giving up, is far greater then words can express..

(The uh, dirt jumped off the carpet and uh, into my eye, and i uh, rubbed it to much... lmao...)

Iv had a plat runic hammer locked down infront of my vendor for about a month now..loged on last night and it was gone. I didnt even page because it was only 5 charges, but needless to say the server is not perfect... So things do happpen and some things do need to be check into.

While I know that you are saying most people lose things by accident, or have them stolen, I have just had one of these incidents happen to me right now and I know that it is none of the above.

I have a large bag of holding, and inside of it I have every type of key and both types of tool houses. This morning I logged in, and all of those items are gone. They are never moved from this bag, and the bag itself is blessed, and inside my main back pack.

These were not stolen, or lost in a death, and some of the other items I keep in the bag are still there. No one has my login information either, or all of my stuff would be missing as well. This is clearly the server eating some items.(unless they are bugged and I cannot see them in the bag)

Hopefully these can be restored because I have no idea how much of all these materials I even had in those items.

Nope, I'm Pocketcow. I just wasted about a mil to replace some of the materials I had lost in the keys and the tool houses. It just seems so odd to me that only the 4 keys and the two tool houses vanished and nothing else. They were all in the huge bag of holding, which is blessed. There were other items in the bag as well and those are still there. I have no idea what could have caused this, but it was in no way related to me at all. Those items have been in that bag for months and I have never moved them. They had a decent amount of materials in them, but nothing over 20k in any specific item category. It would be nice to get my originals back though, because it was quite a bit of gold I just wasted for no reason.

Sounds like a familar problem in the past... A guild would invite people in, and steal from them without knowing, usually befor they log, or while afk... And the next day they find certain items missing, etc., well it explains your situation of "sudden vanishment"

Believe it or not, its happening now, you think the person is nice, untill you find out their stealing from other guildmembers... They should be dealt with, because this is not the enviroment to do such things. As i learned with my past...

Yeah, I know that people can be sneaky, but this has absolutely nothing to do with other people. This was in a large bag of holding which is blessed, and was inside my backpack. The items in question have not ever been moved aside from their initial placement inside the blessed bag, and I have died many times without any issues. This was just a complete vanishing act and was not the work of any player.

Not to sound like an ego maniac, but I don't make mistakes that the common person makes in a video game. I am not new to this game, and I have been playing games for 15 years at the "high end" level. I don't mess around and I have seen every trick in the book when it comes to scamming and stealing because I have done them all in UO years ago. This isn't some "oops" I forgot to lock something down. I don't do that. I have very few items of value and at any moment, I know exactly where all of them are. No one has access to my account. These items were in a blessed container, and simply vanished and I know for a fact they were there 8 hours before it happened because I was using them.

But yeah, just to reiterate, this isn't some "blonde moment" where I accidentally put them somewhere and forgot. These items completely vanished from that bag and there's no question about that.

The possiblilty of a theif, you cant exactly rule that out, it does make sense...

On the other hand, there was a bug with the BOH's, it happend with pets if i recall, several people stated that when they "dropped" the pets into the BOH, they disapeared. Now i do not recall if it did it with items, and I also dont recall if it was fixed... Something to bring up to Colibri to check it out?

Without an exact time... Well, thats alot of lines he has to go thru... And from the sound of his last post, hes not doing that anymore, unless paid for from player services
