[Event] LMC's Grand Event has Begun!

Welcome to the Little Monsters Clan’s first annual Grand event. We know school just let out and vacations are being planned, people will have more leisure time to play UO, especially you kids out there. So this weekend we’re trying to kick off the summer season by hosting the biggest player ran event in UOEX history. Now many of us in LMC have not been around since the beginning, so we can’t really claim that to be a fact, but we’re trying really hard.

There’s another reason we’re doing this though, beyond just the fun. Some of you may be aware that the leadership of LMC has recently and permanently changed hands. A governing council now controls the guild, composed of Reese, Amberly, Rossi, Gwendolyn, and Gouki. We’re good fair players and we are trying to turn the LMC reputation around.

Recently we’ve made our power scroll bag available for use to the entire shard free of charge, in the future, more acts of generosity similar to this will be done. We’re holding our hand out to every player on the server and asking forgiveness and that you all forget the past and only look forward to the future.

This is a game and games are meant for fun, the in-fighting and name calling has got to stop. We as players of UO Excelsior are a family and a community. Little Monsters Clan is hoping to turn over a new leaf and begin again, as one of UO Excelsior’s prided children, rather than its black sheep.

Now then, On to the main event;

Without further adieu, I present to you the following riddles. Each riddle must be solved for the name of an Item (or set of items). This item must be collected and placed in a bag, before being handed in. There are ten riddles in total, several of these riddles are for just one item, how ever, a few of them are for multiple items. Hand all your items in at once inside a bag, this will be your submission. The event will run for 50 hours from the moment that this post is made.

But first let’s take a look at the prizes…

PRIZES:

1 Grand Prize: An Imprisoned Dog (Still in crystal), 150 ointments, 750k gold and 250k tokens

2 First Prizes: An Imprisoned Ferret (Still in crystal) OR an Imprisoned Squirrel (Still in crystal), 50 ointments 500k gold and 150k Tokens

2 Second Prizes: Poof Ball, Mystical Sextant of Control, 300k gold and 100k tokens

2 Third Prizes: Crystalline Ring, 150k gold and 75k tokens
Every one who makes a submission will receive 25k gold and 5k tokens as a thank you for playing, even if none of the items are correct.

RIDDLES:


1. A Poisonous item that’s safe to handle, lost in a maze. What will you do with this confusing clue?
2. A Mind Cage at the end of a twisting channel. Tricky doors and hidden ways, it belongs to the last human in this place.
3. A gateway to an item most coveted, hold it in your hand, fill it with six and find the seventh. Bring me this.
4. Perfectly glimmering, Like a rainbow of rock, some of the hardest of substances. Tough to cut. One of each, Regulars only please.
5. Games inside a game, grab a board if you’re bored, play them all four. I want one of each, thank you.
6. One only for a plus sign, one only for an arrow, either is fine.
7. Guarded by a pair of demon skulls, a mystical pathway lies to a strange location. Ess Lore En Ohm. Bring it to me
8. An Avian Termite of the forest.
9. A tripping sphere, once used for PVP, bring one here.
10. Go No Further, Beware ye who enter. Find the twins and throne, ink their words and bring it to me.



The ONLY hint you will receive is this:
Not one of these items is worth more than 100k gold in our current economy and most are worth less than 5k gold.


RULES:

You may submit only one answer bag, once you submit you may not double back and submit additional items to your bag, so you must make absolutely sure you are ready to submit.

All submissions to the contest must be turned in before 5 pm CST on Sunday the 6th of June (That is Midnight server time). Not a single submission will be taken a moment after that.

In Order to submit your submission you must PM an officer of LMC: Reese, Amberly, Gouki, or Gwendolyn should be available through out the entire weekend, in the event that none of us are available, due to the time sensitivity of this contest, PM All the officers at the same time informing us all that you have a submission so that it can be recorded and the first officer to log in will collect your submission as soon as they are able. The time you PM’d us all will be noted and we will be confirming with each other on this so please do not try to cheat.

The winners will be judged based on their items and time when they turned them in. The first person with the most answers wins. And to make sure that this is absolutely clear, if you turn your bag in with four correct answers first, but the last person to submit answers has all ten correct answers then they will win the grand prize. That being said, having more correct answers will count for more than the time you submit your answers, but the sooner you turn them in the better.

Public discussion of answers or riddles is strictly forbidden. Any one caught participating or initiating in such a discussion will be disqualified from the event, as well as future possible LMC events. (Part of the fun is figuring out the riddles for yourself and we would hate if some one were to blurt out all the answers at once)

Players may work cooperatively with one another to solve riddles an collect items, how ever, due to the nature of the rewards, only 7 total winners will be selected. Disputes over rewards will not be handled by LMC and we are unfortunately, unwilling to divvy up an award based on the number of participates in a given group, that being said, submission rules will continue to apply normally, so if you do decide to work in a group, make sure you do so with a person you know and trust.

NOW FOR THE ANSWERS:

I have decided to do a little break down of the riddles, to help people understand the answers to the riddles. We received a lot of very interesting answers to our contest.

1. A Poisonous item that’s safe to handle, lost in a maze. What will you do with this confusing clue?
Break Down: This is the only Poisonous item available in this area that’s completely safe to handle. The only other might possibly be poison potions that occasionaly drop from giant serpents, which if double clicked will poison you! The biggest clue should’ve been the word Maze, another word for Maze is Labyrinth.
--Answer: A Skorp Stinger, a 100% drop rate Mage Quest item from the Skorp Warrior in Labyrinth

2. . A Mind Cage at the end of a twisting channel. Tricky doors and hidden ways, it belongs to the last human in this place.
Break Down: Got a lot of different interesting answers for this one. I admit writing this riddle was quite entertaining. The first clue here is a Mind Cage, a lot of people mistook this for a hat or Bandana(:P) but it is actually a head. The second, third and fourth clues are Twisting Channel, Tricky Doors and Hidden ways, which is to mean The Citadel, or Travesty, and finally, the last human in that place is The Black Order High Executioner.

3. A gateway to an item most coveted, hold it in your hand, fill it with six and find the seventh. Bring me this.
Break Down: Now I think EVERY BODY got this one correct. It’s a gateway of sorts to collect one of the most valuable items in the game, the second clue is the “fill it with six and find the seventh’ which is to say, you put six items in it, to collect the seventh item, which is a GoC.

4. Perfectly glimmering, Like a rainbow of rock, some of the hardest of substances. Tough to cut. One of each, Regulars only please.
Break Down: The biggest clue in this one should’ve been the Rainbow of Rock Comment, the Touchest substances was another dead give away and finally, one of each and regulars only should’ve hit the point home
--Answers: A Diamond, Sapphire, A ruby, Star Sapphire, Emerald, Citrine, Amethyst, Tourmaline, Piece of Amber

5. Games inside a game, grab a board if you’re bored, play them all four. I want one of each, thank you.
Break Down: Almost everybody got this one correct. Within Ultima Online there are a few different subgames that can be played, four of them are actually board games with pieces.
--Answers: A checker Board, a Chess Board, A Backgammon Board, a Mahjong Board

6. One only for a plus sign, one only for an arrow, either is fine.
Break Down: Nobody got this one right. Originally, I thought it might be to obvious, as there is nothing else in the game that is so specifically designed for their counter parts. The Plus sign refers to the female sign, which is a circle with a plus sticking out of it, and the arrow refers to the male sign, which is a circle with an arrow sticking out of it.

7. Guarded by a pair of demon skulls, a mystical pathway lies to a strange location. Ess Lore En Ohm. Bring it to me
Break Down: This is one of the more tricky ones as there are many different ways it could’ve been interrupted but of course, there is only one correct answer. Ultimately, The Mystical Pathway is referring to the device of a Recall Rune, The Strange Location was the second big give away as all runes marked in this method are leveled “To a Strange location”, Ess Lore En Ohm are the druid spell incantation words for the Druid version of Mark. Though you did not have to actually cast the spell mark, all you needed to do was drop a rune into the bag and it would become marked. I was accepting answers from both Malas and Magda

8. An Avian Termite of the forest.
Break Down: The word Avian is another word for bird, Termite is something that eats wood, and this item can only be found in wooded areas.

9. A tripping sphere, once used for PVP, bring one here.
Break Down: When this item came out, it was notorious in pvp incursions, it’s ability to dismount players was paramount to the business of PKing. Though it’s impossible to trip in Ultima Online, the real life application of this item was used to Trip people up.
--Answer: A bolla Ball or Bolas

10. Go No Further, Beware ye who enter. Find the twins and throne, ink their words and bring it to me.
Break Down: Go No Further and Beware Ye Who enter are the first few words that each statue speaks when you enter the third level of the Covetous Dungeon. The twins refers to twin paintings down perpendicular hall ways that trail off east and west from the hall way you enter immediately after that statue, at the end you find a throne. The paintains and throne all say the same when you double click it, and what they say was to be written down in a book as your submission
--Answer: A book with the numbers 3-4-1-5 written some where in it.
