Need some help with a quest

I'm currently doing "master of the sea" chain quest. I'm on the 3rd part where I'm suppose to go kill some tough mongbats, I don't remember their precise name. I know it's in a place called windermere forest. Which is suppose to be east of minoc and north east of vesper. I've spent a good amount of time running around looking for them and I can't find them. i've tried to talk to the quest giver but you need a special note which you only get once unless you start from the beginning. Hopefully someone out there knows about this and can sheld some insight on it please.
