There are too many variables. It depends on the location, type of job, your education, work experience, and minimum wage laws.
Some US states only pay $7.25 per hour while others pay up to $8.50 per hour for minimum wage for unskilled labor. (According to the internet anyway. I no longer live in the USA so I cannot say for sure.)

yaaknow at the end of the day we aren't really getting anything real by donating.
Oh sure it increases the quality of play when you receive ED but its not really anything, its not something you can hang on your wall, if the shard goes down for what ever reason, all the "Stuff" you got for donating is gone, face it people, you are giving Colibri money and getting nothing in return, this -is- a donation to the truest sense of the word. not only are you getting nothing, but you are limited in how you can use it, you get TOLD how to use your nothing and to make matters worse, Colibri has absolutely not an ounce of additional respect(And sometimes even less, see black death) for his investors, whats wrong with THAT picture?
I'm seriously not sure why Colibri made this change, It's a strap on the progress rate at how fast the shard's general population will grow in power. Was he hoping people would donate more? I doubt that. But since Colibri wont even make a comment in this thread its all speculation.
We were always getting nothing, now we're getting slightly less nothing than before, all this is, is colibri trying to limit the power coming into the shard.. It's probably because of that Guy Zar Ivan, guy went from popper to prince in a week, nothing straight to nine relayers and 6800 luck, sure that lined colibri's pocket, but i'm betting he doesn't NEED more money, I would not be suprized to see quadruple digits of surplus funds in Colibri's paypal account unless he's spending it on himself. Half wish he'd invest some of that money into a full time programmer to come and fix things.

I don't think there should be an ED system at all so that you all can go out there and hunt in group and earn your keep by fighting tough monsters and shred some blood instead of paying your ways to get to things and getting out the easy way. Y'all who pay your ways to get relayers after relayers are making the life of everyone else around you who doesn't have the money to donate suffer because the rich get richer and the poor stay poor. after you paid your ways to an easier life it's not enough for you because now you think tough spawn aren't tough anymore (champion spawn) and then you start complaining about damage output and talk about if I do the most damage I should get more and better scrolls than the guy who doesn't put as much damage blah blah blah.
ED system is like being a republican, the rich get richer and the middle class are suffering. This is why we all hate Bush remember?
It's the way the server is set up, it's a business.
It's one of a very limited number of things that make this server different from other servers. And, it's been that way for a very long time (in fact so long that any attempt to change it would honestly be impossible, imo).
With the risk of sounding like a broken record, there are many "free" servers out there. Some of them are even more literally "free".
I'm sure there are a lot of people that would program for free (and in fact do, look at the development forums {not that any of it gets implemented}), but a lot of people who own and run shards are hesitant to give out their own materials to people because they may steal it, etc...
Well for one thing its made my life easier, half the time i need EDS.. cols not on (time difference)
Now ... the stone he has created and placed into trinsic.. wouldnt have worked with trying to work out conversions and such.. but i can get my donation instantly.
At the end of the day... the change has been done.. and itll hopefully make EDs a little more valuable.
I would like to see a scripter hired... get a teenager they will basically work for nothing (*remembers back to my teenage online days) lol .. but lets get someone who knows what there doing and we will be set

Stealing scripts from someone who's coding for a emulated game that's well over a decade old. That's a joke if i ever heard one lol what do people think their time is worth? i mean seriously if people that uptight about things maybe they should hang themselves.
Not to derail this thread, USD - 10 ed Euro - ? i dunno whatever their currency is worth offer more.
to Little Hornet - Maybe we're not the ones suffering, maybe you and i are making the paying gamers suffer. Ever think of it this way? Our constant rants about how we're content with less takes from the potential that could be put in and more end game that could be added because those already at the peak need to see more.

Ok, I expect this change will push the price of ED's in game higher.
That being said, you don't HAVE to donate at all. Sure I have been on the server a long time. Pushing 4 years I believe but in that time I have donated 1 time for a grand total of $10 US. It's not that I am cheap (well I am) but a large part of that time I have been unemployed. When you are out of work you don't spend anything you don't HAVE to.
Yet at this time in the game, I have 2 relayered omni spellbooks. One on 2 different characters, I have a Large and a Huge Bag of Holding. I have 8 pet slots on 1 character and I have a 3rd house and a level 100 weapon relayered to a cloak. I also have 25 extra item count on my main characters bank box and backpack and an extra druid spellbook in a box in one of my houses. Plus I have almost 2000 ED packed away.
How did I do this? I made a LOT of gold in game and spent a LOT of it. I worked for what I got. Sure it was slow but it CAN be done. Now granted if nobody donates there is no ED to buy relatively speaking but +Col already gives away a LOT of ED in milestones, not even counting events and such. I really think there is a lot of fun to be had with zero items gotten via ED's. Probably the thing I would miss the most is the Bags of Holding. 2nd most missed for me would be the druid spellbook / omni spellbook.
As for the US players getting a bad deal here is my question. Did European players before get 10 ED per Euro or did they get 10 ED per USD value of their Euros? I sorta suspect it was not 10 ED per Euro before. If it wasn't then the price went up for them just like it did for us.
So my point is either donate or don't. Work toward items that require Ed or don't. You can have a lot of fun either way. I have some issues with a few things on this shard but overall, I still find it to be the best/most interesting shard around, which is why I still play here.

I personally totally agree with Highroller , My hubby(spendy) and myself have gotten everything we have by working for it not by donating . If and when we do donate it will be as a Thanks To Colibri for such an awesome game .
