Suggestion For Auctions

Post by JimTheDM »

I am just putting this out here because I would like to see some equality in the auctions. The 2 auctions I have attended since I have been on, most things have gone for 1mill plus. This last one most items went for 10mil plus. Most of the people who have just come online here cannot afford that and as such miss out on some nice items. I would like to suggest that maybe there be a auction where you cannot attend if you have over X mill in the back, maybe 3-5mill. This would allow some of the younger and "young" players a chance at some of these items. Again this is just a suggestion from the peanut gallery.

1) the auctions are designed for the people who have copious amounts of gold to remove some of that gold from circulation
2) people who buy something for x amount at the regular auctions will start whining and complaining if the same item is sold for less than x at one of these restrictive auctions

yeah kind of hard being a new player, but it gives you something to plan ahead for. :) i remember my first auction; i was only 5 months old. didn't have millions, and didn't have much besides a bio and nobles. then i saw this really cool train deco. a year later it sits in my casino. :)

I know where you are coming from. When I started I found out they hosted auctions every so often. And they were usually some rare and deco. And I am a deco person in uo. So I attended few auctions. I too notice high prices out of my league. SO I realize either you got to work for your money in game for the next auctions or simply donate for gold in game. Its mostly for the people that have a lot of gold to get that gold out of the world game like mentioned above. Its like buying tickets. Poor person could buy 2 and each rich person buys 100+ tickets. And anyone can still win it.

Is this a suggestion for beggars? Auctions of beggary?

Equality is achieved when all persons are treated the same under the rules or law. Equal achievements, equal outcome, equal property, equal money, stuff or opportunity are all perversions of Equality.

Everyone has different abilities and thus can never be identical in outcome. Equality is thus being treated equally under the Rules.

Pursuing further Equality will discourage achievements.

no offense to you silas cause your cool but..

mathematically you have the same chances as if someone bought 1 ticket. the math is like this

poor guy has 1 ticket. so it's 1 ticket out of 4
1:4
rich guy has 3 tickets but remember 1 ticket being drawn
1:4
because there is still only 1 draw.
now i know sometimes it doesn't feel like it but really you do have the same chances. you may think hey he has 75% of all the tickets in the barrel but it's still only 1 ticket is drawn. thus, making it a 1:4 chance. :)

it's 1:4 chance a particular ticket will be drawn.
it's a 3:4 chance the person with 3 tickets will win (1:4 + 1:4 + 1:4)

I am just putting this out here because I would like to see some equality in the auctions.
I can just see how that would go over if I attended a Christie's auction with a Picasso up for bid.

Anyway's, there are 2 other options for players who cannot afford the main auctions:
1. Youth Center Auctions
2. Player give aways which happen often enough that even a brand new player can get something rare, awesome or worth a lot.

If none of those are helpful, then wait a year, you should be a multimillionaire by then capable of buying some of these items. And because it is so easy to collect gold, as others have previously stated, the auctions are needed to sink the gold back out of the economy.

No hate Anarchy trust me. Also I don't know if that post is suppose to mean I was crying over poor buying 1 ticket and richer people buy 3 tickets? I am truly not complaining about the raffle/drawlings/auctions. I totally think they are good how they are going. Its like irl people buy many tickets and Ive bought few tickets and still won them. IMO its all luck :)
