afk level rules

Post by anarchy »

2nd violation: You will receive a 24 hour jail and of your resources/weapon will be impounded.
erm. how long impounded. i mean if your jailed for 24 hours and the resources/weapon is impounded for that time; that makes no sense. it's like it's not being punished for being afk besides being jailed. not like they can actually use it while being in jail. :O maybe, jailed for 24 hours and items are impounded for 3 days. :)

It's quite possible they mean the item would be confiscated, not impounded. I could be wrong though. Impounded means you could, theoretically, retrieve your items if you were to pay a fine, for the tow, and the storage ... wait, we don't have cars here. :D

Some clarification would be awesome though.

My understanding was that you lost the weapon. It isn't returned because if it's your second violation, the work put into it was probably invalidated by the fact that there's evidence there between the first and second times that you were likely putting that experience into it while AFK.

I think the only weapon you might be able to make a case for not losing is a TH, since only then does the value of the weapon far exceed the value of the time you spent AFK leveling it. Everything else is basically a 100k-3m weapon down the drain, which seems like an appropriate penalty for the infraction but isn't insanely severe. It's enough to make most people think twice, though.

So it would be ok to commit crimes in a ferrari, but not in a kia?

Does not matter what weapon you are leveling. AFAIK there is no case by case basis, or an exception to the rule. If you are caught, and its your 2nd infraction, you loose the weapon. Period. End of discussion.
There are ways to NOT get your weapon impounded, like... not afk leveling. Or, Not Afk Leveling. If you have to go afk, stop your macro, gate away to a location without monsters, and then hide. Simple.

Sorry, not trying to flame but this one makes me smile :). Yes, 2nd offense you lose you weapon and it should be so, regardless of the weapon. 1st offense is a warning-fair. 2nd offense fits the crime. "Foul me once, shame on you, foul me twice shame on me".

I know of someone losing their weapon before due to afk scripting. And one day, i was able to loot a titan hammer. Well you can BET I was constantly at my pc leveling that thing manually and not risking losing that weapon. But hey, if someone wants to chance losing a titan hammer due to afk scripting, that is up to them. If they lose that hammer due to afk, I applaud the staff for doing it and just laugh like heck to one STUPID move :)

The only way to stop all this is ban leveling in Trammel all together. The only places that your wep will earn level exp points is at Fel, Ilshenar, Tokuno, Malas, and un-recall-able Doom. I mean there is no other way to tell if someone is afk or not... ppl are so smart that when a GM appears they will stop their script and do the afk check.

I run scripts like everybody else but I do not have them automated to the point that it will recall me to the locations, kill, loot, and move on. I still have to manually recall in... do my keys combination to attack... manually loot... and then recall out. If you are upset at the ppl that steal kills your mobs or are really 'afk' then yeah sure let's take away their weps or throw them in jail but don't punish the guys that are really at the keyboard running their scripts cause seriously that's a lot of clicking.

I haven't seen any problems of this magnitude before... but where I go I normally bump into the same ppl that will sometimes stop and chat with me. So I am confuse... are we trying to stop ppl that are running scripts or the ones that are running a script while watching TV? Cause I remember that you Mr. A told us how to "Level a Wep like a Boss " :D  (no offence intended! much lub!)

well i was just wondering what impounded meant. maybe they should instead put in the rule.

2nd violation: You will receive a 24 hour jail and your resources/weapon will be destroyed.

if you say impounded it sounds like you can get it back, if you said confiscated, well that also implies (sorta) that you could also get it back. if you say destroyed, well that permanent.

i'm not trying to be a wise guy here or anything.
So it would be ok to commit crimes in a ferrari, but not in a kia?
om-goodness this made me laugh up coffee out of my nose. that's not cool seeing it was hot. :S

ok and for my next question, muwhaaaaa.

if you get your weapon/resources destroyed can't you just use the retrieval system for 110 eds to get it back? o.O yeah i know i'm such a jerk and no i'm not trying to cause drama. ;P also, no i don't have a weapon/resources that were taken.

Its no violation to have a completely scripted macro to recall you in, kill mob, loot mob and recall out as long as you are sitting at the keyboard. We are trying to stop the people levelling while watching TV..
