New player about to start

Hi all

I am a few player, about to join the shard..
I played UO many (many) years back in when UO was one of the only MMORPGs around!, I am currently downloading the client, Assist UO, UOAM etc. The shard appears to have a lot of activity which is really good to see

I was thinking just take it easy, do some taming, vet, healing etc., forget the old school templates and just "do what I want to do" .The longevity of the shard is great, when people put in lots of hours in their character, knowing its not going anywhere is a bonus! Any thing special I should know ...starting options etc. (I have not logged in yet) was going to keep any skill balls for later ? Can I purchase spell , chivalry and rune books etc from player vendors when I get the cash up?
Any other specific stating advice ? .. I am reading through the WIKI at the moment

I see there are player services available, is it possible to get a complete house "built and placed" for a donation ? -- I never did get my head around housing ! I am hoping a donation for a "home" would be OK as its not giving unfair advantage etc ?
a "place to call home" would be nice Not sure who to contact about that

Looking forward to logging on and finding my feet in the world

welcome to the shard, you will get a skillball when you start up. the trick with it is to get a powerscroll and raise your skill so when u use the skillball you max something with it. some people use it for taming but really there are ways to do taming that is reletively cheap and easy. as for housing you go to the architek and buy a house placement tool. find a location and drop your house there. there is a gold cost involved but if your not building a custom house the gold cost will be low.

Gona just start some taming and perhaps provocation etc, and seek out some mage books, is there a rune book library any where ?
