Please tell me how I messed up once again? I could understand the first time, but is there a time limit that people can talk about a single subject?
god bless, the rules are really constricting here.
Please answer.

Re: msg to mods
No time limit, but even some innocent subject matter can slowly turn away from the RATED "G" rating that Global Chat is supposed to be. The GMs will often step in with a warning to PREVENT it from going to far.

Re: msg to mods
No one told you that you "messed up". The conversation about bodily functions had been going on for an excessive period of time. I let it go on for quite awhile, and then when it started to turn into a conversation about essentially abusing the home health care system by requiring a nurse of the opposite gender and what they'd have that person do, I'd had enough. I said "that's enough, everyone". I didn't chat ban anyone, or tell anyone specific that they were being a problem in particular. The conversation had gone on too long and was taking an even more inappropriate turn, so I ended it. That's part of my job here.
Re: msg to mods
We were talking about the problems of getting older. ONE person mentioned the opposite sex, several people corrected him.
Abusing the "home health care system" really?
I appreciate that you were doing your job. Personally I like you, and respect you.
But, as a donating member, I am leaving the shard as of tonight. In my opinion, the players can handle problems in a much better manner than the mods can. I love the people of Excelsior, but in my opinion; the mods are way too "over your shoulder"
Ya'll take care.

Questions:
#1: Do you feel that being a donating member that you should be treated differently than non-donating members?
#2: Do you feel it appropriate to participate in a 20 minute discussion on fecal matter in world chat?
If your answer is yes for both of these questions....have a nice life.

#1 No it should NOT matter, but since the shard would be dead without contributors I mentioned it.
#2 review your logs
#3 I have had a nice life before Excelsior, and I expect it will continue.

My last post. I have already deleted the game. Veritas will probably delete this comment, but:
I am pro gay marriage, pro equal rights, pro guns, pro medical marijuana, anti Nazi, or whatever they call themselves today, and pro free speech.
take care everyone. A ton of nice people play this shard, don't run them off.

There are a lot of donators. Especially us, who don't mind being told to follow the rules.Ladmo wrote:Veritas

From the Codex itself . Can be looked at again here: http://www.uoex.net/codex (you also agree to this when you make your account, so you cannot complain about it here like you are)Ladmo wrote:#2 review your logs
2. Language:
a. Keep chat clean - no cussing, arguing, harrasing, etc. .

Re: msg to mods
So am I, on all counts. But that has nothing to do with this shard. You agreed to our terms of service when you joined this shard, and are bound by those rules and the way this shard is run. I let the conversation about bodily functions carry on for a very long time until it started to turn inappropriate. Regardless of whether only one person made an inappropriate remark or not, it was time for a new conversation. Nobody stopped you from continuing it in private if you so chose.Ladmo wrote:I am pro gay marriage, pro equal rights, pro guns, pro medical marijuana, anti Nazi, or whatever they call themselves today, and pro free speech.
I'm not sure if you were trying to make some sort of statement about freedom of speech here, but freedom of speech has nothing to do with private organizations such as our shard and forums. It protects the citizens of the USA from being censored in certain ways by their government. It does not allow anyone to say anything they want anywhere, any time. This is a very common misconception on the internet, particularly by the indignant. It's something that is easily resolved and I encourage all US citizens to truly educate themselves and fully know their rights. Know what your rights do and do not mean. People died to give them to you, the least you can do is actually understand them.

@Ladmo:
A general once was asked, who gave him the right, to decide and order, like he does.
He turned to his left, touched a cannon and said: "Those!"
"George Smith Patton"
Read between the lines...you`ll know, whats ment.
@Nyx:
Freedom of speech is a subjective right, belonging to the human rights, not just to the law of a special country.
It can be found in article 19 of the "Universal Declaration of Human Rights", which USA signed in 1948.
IMHO, its NOT a problem of the right to speak, but to respect the privacy/personal rights of others.
Evryone is very quick in calling for rights....but very slow in respecting others.
What one wants, he/she should first give the other too.
Maybe a bit more tact would work well.
From player side, not to overtalk sensitive themes...
From GM side not to act too fast too strict or closed-viewed.
oh, btw Dramoor...
the codex, which your link refers to, needs a lot of work to be actual.
If you want to be that good teacher to evryone, like you behave always,
you should add all changes first additional to your link.

Those are +colibris shard rules, not mine. It is not up to me to change those rules. I posted and then quoted directly the section that was related to the part that they were talking about, so elaborating about a codex section that was directly linked to this post in ACCURACY wont help you try to troll me or sound right.

Re: msg to mods
Gee jiminy jillikers this is all a bit loco
U hav2 admit that the conversation was getting a bit crazy, but Nyx just said that was enough, she didnt single anyone out or put anyone down, so this whole things a total overreaction!
A lot of us are older people so it is easy to forget that this is a family orrientated shard, and the GMs definitly let us away with a lot, a warning is a whole lot nicer than a jail sentence!

Re: msg to mods
This coming from the player who so adamantly supported Bavmorda, insisting she was a great person and an asset to the shard, even while she was spamming the forums, facebook page, and top 100 website for many hours with her filth, nonsense, and threats. Pardon me if I do not take your input with much weight. That level of respect is earned, and you haven't earned it from me. Not only that, your thinly-veiled anti-staff posts are getting really old.Nightstarwolf wrote:@Ladmo:

In the future, before you try to tell others to have tact, you might try having some yourself. It is not your place to advise us what staffers should or should not do. You were not even a part of the conversation in question, so you can't provide any input on that. Your whole post was offensive, which is the opposite of tactful.
Bottom line: The conversation was getting out of hand, and I tactfully said "That's enough, everyone". The conversation in question did not warrant any chat bans or jail time, but after 20 straight minutes of it, with it beginning to turn more inappropriate, it did warrant a subject change. I handled it the way the staff are instructed to handle such situations. If a player finds our family-friendly world chat too restrictive, they are not required to chat in world chat and are free to have their more risque/non-family-friendly conversations in PM or guild chat. Or, they can find a shard that more suits their needs. The shard does not need to change to suit those who want to have more risque public chat.
