Luck in a party question

Post by Cygnus »

When fighting in a party, what determines the loot drop of the mob killed...highest luck in the party, luck of the player who made the killing hit or some other determination?

I found the answer to my own question as follows from UOGuide:

2. The top attacker's Luck is evaluated to determine their percentage (%) chance value, which is derived from the equation:
Chance = Luck^{\frac{5}{9}}\!

Example: The RNG rolls a 30. The top attacker's Luck is evaluated and results in a rounded percentage (%) chance value of 56. 56 > 30, so the loot is increased.

This roll applies to all loot that is spawned, even that which is given to other attackers in their own instanced corpses; the top attacker's Luck applies to everyone.

So, its the top attackers luck which I assume means the one who did more damage, unless someone see it differently.

Thanks for this Cygnus. I'd love to hear more about exactly where luck does and doesn't play a factor, how much is required before you really see any significant difference, etc. I've never fully understood how it plays a role and I'm not a big math/programming guy so reading all of the script to see the formulas really wouldn't do anything for me.
