Anyhow, twice now I've goofed up receiving the reward for turning in a quest book at Sgail. First was a part to the gleam aura leggings, and recently a few days ago a Necromaiden's Dress. The pants were a one time thing and the parts to submit were scary huge investment so I was stoked the +angels saved the day. The Necromaiden's... eh... a few hours of farming, and I have a few already so I didn't feel as compelled to flip out. Still, buzzkill right?
The first time it happened +V & +N figured out it had to do with the tile. It's super important in that area that you stand in the same tile the NPC takes your quest book from you in. That's why the NPC's always say, "Now stand still..." they really mean that. On that gleam aura incident, I was running (if Locke is running, you run too!) So when the NPC took my book I was still moving and that caused the reward to fail. This second time I think the same thing happened. I walked up to Antonia, but I must have still been moving between when she took the book and when I stopped.
My new solution is not to fill the book until already standing still at the NPC. I don't have a bag of holding (I know I know, for someone at my level that's like saying I don't have a runebook.) So, until now, I'd get the book, head back to a bank and fill it, then head back in. You can't really carry 10k leather w/o a bag otherwise. (This might also be why I alone seem to be running, no pun intended, into this particular problem but other Sgail level people are not... people at Sgail level are generally equipped with holdings.)
Since the book-taking perimeters are not defined (and shouldn't be, it'd look silly,) I can't guarantee myself that I won't still be moving a tile when the NPC takes the quest book. The best thing to do is leave an item out of the quest book. That way they won't take the book while you're still approaching. Thus, you can safely get next to them, stand still, and then add that last part that will activate it for pickup. Thus when they take it, voila, you're not moving, and won't miss that reward item.
So... should you find yourself trying to Sgail w/o a BOH, I hope this suggestion proves useful.
And if not useful, then I hope you enjoyed reading my *awesome* writing style.

Peace friends!
