Looted weapons

Post by crossfire »

Hi all.
I have a couple questions about what makes a weapon worth selling (what it takes for someone to buy it).

I have a quarter staff it has:

use best weapon skill
LD 38%
SL 38%
spell channeling.

Would this be worth selling?
If not, what are minimum stats a weapon needs to have?

That item in particular wouldn't sell. My opinion. I have some pretty cheap 3x46s that still haven't sold. But then again my vendor is very hard to reach. If it were a 4x38 it would have a better chance depending on the stats. LD is nice. SL is ok but I would prefer it not to be on one I would buy because of Devine Fury. Some of the more desirable stats I believe are mana and life leech. Lightning is most desired hit, but fireball and harm are also good. Lower defense is also nice. Some useless stats are dispel and damage increase. Unless you are new and don't have any relayers. Then DI is nice. But not really for a weap you plan on leveling to 100. Hope this helps. And I would also enjoy some input from some of the vets. I'm about 7 months old. Not in real life, but on here.

This is very general and the value depends on the buyers play style and preference. this is my opinion:

typically 3x46s are the lowest with some resale value (maybe 2x58s) however they can have good value if they have any 2 of the following: life leech, mana leech, lower defense (less desirable stamina leech and lower attack) and 1 of the following hits: lightning or fireball (less desirable harm or magic arrow or any area). i don't count dispel or damage increase.

second, additional value for weapons that DO NOT require an item change deed (200ED) since they are already a war hammer, double axe, halberd, etc. however finding a looted weapon with ideal stats and and a desirable weapon is very rare, unless your name is NME (looted 5x58 war hammer).

Here is the way to look at for weapons take notes.

Direct DMG Weapons u want higher ht percentages. (so 46 or higher unless a 4x38, never under 3x on any)

Hits and uses on diff dmg types

Direct DMG

Hit Lightning first, Fireball Second (both can be good on the loot even harm or magic arrow if u plan accordingly)

Hit Harm and Hit Magic arrow determine if you are fighting ranged or melee. Magic arrow might be better for Ranged, but at the same time if you use ranged and melee with it harm will hit harder in the long run as it hits harder the closer you are.

Area hits have NO use on a direct dmg weapon as they do not do direct dmg only area of effect dmg.

Hit lower defense is good and better than Hit Lower attack on direct damage. One lowers their HCI, other their DCI, Id rather lower their DCI and hit them more so Hit Lower Defense.

Damage Increase is wasted space and should never be considered a hit on a weapon as it will most likely be wasted as you will (or should) be maxed by relayers.

Hit Dispel does not work on this server other than for player summoned creatures. Never consider it a hit for purchase or sale.

Leeches u want mana then life and stam if u really want on direct hit weapon in that order. Mana leech will be needed for using the special attacks repeatedly on most weapons

Area Weapons (whirlwind)
Your weapon wanting numbers can change on this. Really the higher up is still better but a 4 or even 5x 26 can be just as good with the right stats as a starter.

Areas and Direct DMG hits. I would definitely want at least an area and a direct hit on my weapon. I would probably even try to add later another hit or 2 and an area if possible (why the 5x26 or even 4x26 can come in handy as u can have a lot at 26 from whirlwinding doesn't need 60 always for them to go off as they get more chances).

Hit lower defense/Lower attack are really not needed or used much on an Area weapon as Lower attack would be better for saving you bandages, Nothing should need their defense lowered that you would area attack.

Leeches, whirlwinding doesn't take as much mana as direct dmg specials. You can get away sometimes if your suit is all medable without it, Stam leech and then Life leech would be best. As stam helps you not have to spam divine fury at a champ spawn.

There is your basis for looted weapons, you can follow if you want or not. But it is the best way to look at every weapon you loot, or want to buy.

Thank you for the informative post Dramoor. I have a question to contribute. While leveling a blaze of death (assuming you don't want to save all points and sell as nps) Seeing as it is whirlwind would it be acceptable to try and throw on one or three hits with an area or a couple hits couple areas, or is that considered a waste of points? I've seen some around with 1-3 hits and an area thrown in and was wondering if it would be good to model after that?

Thanks.

additional AOEs are good for champs. typically the blaze's with additional AOEs are intended for champs. if you want maximum dps you would a) use a different type of weapon ie. ornate axe and b) choose direct hits ie. lightning or fireball.

again, it basically boils down to one's play style and preference.

Additional question on weapons-
All the weapon hits make total sense to me save one other- Damage % to a resist. Is it better to have say 25% to each physical, fire, cold etc or is it better to have 100% to one in particular?
I would imagine that 100% poison would be awesome against some, but less effective against others. Therefore, to kind of answer my own question, choose the weapon for the monster your after.

But what about a general use weapon? Say I do Tsuki Wolves and Yamadons for a bit and then go off to some champ? Which is the better way to go in a general use weapon?

Necro bump, but Consecrate weapon renders your point moot. Consecrate converts damage to the targets weakest type.
