+ Nyx: "give a little reward of various food deco "

I demand a super awesome food deco cookie!
It is hard to push the vote button with my supple, super model finger!

I spend all day maintaining a citrix environment running on vm servers, while upgrading to a whole new storage system...but the hardest part of my day, is pushing that vote button!

You know what I find truly amazing is that only one person that posted actually saw the true meaning of the post, that a system that has been put into the game is broken and they have stated they are working on it. As I said if it's broken take it down until it's fixed. I bet you anything that if all the champs were suddenly broken or if the peerless mobs were broken most of you "vet" would be up in arms about it since you could not get imps ect. As for the whining, this is the first time I have ever posted anything about it needing to be fixed. As for reading about it being able to be taken away at will go right ahead I still vote everyday even tho I have not been getting anything for it. I actually like playing here. I have been taking new people out showing them places to hunt safely, making them armor at my own expense I have even been buying tools when I did not have a plat tool just so I could make better items for them. So yeah I am doing my part to help new players. I am saying if it's broken fix it or remove it till it's fixed, it's not that hard

I am no vet, I don't have a relayer, and I have never done a champ spawn, but I have been here almost two years.

I do understand if peerless went down, it would be an issue, as that would be considered a broken part of the game. Not getting an ED from voting is not a broken part of the game.
But in my few years here, when something does break, I have rarely (and I do mean rarely), ever seen anyone complain. Most people just say no biggie, the game is free, and we know they are working on it.

And I do believe you are getting your wish. Based on the other posts by the mods in this topic, they will most likely be removing the ED as a reward. So problem solved.

Interesting factoid: another shard I play on takes a different tact. Apparently UO shards can export the number of players online and some top-shard lists can sort on that number, so they reward folks for leaving their accounts logged in even when idle. That drives up the online count on lists like http://joinuo.com/?Shard_sort=clients_now.desc

Personally, I found Excelsior by looking for a no-PK shard with a decent online count. "Votes" mean squat to me: unauthenticated voting systems are readily gamed and folks really vote with their feet.

Vis a vis the current problem, the record of how many hours a player was logged in is and will remain under your total control.

I think that's a great idea, and I'd rather see this than a per-vote reward. Particularly given all the headaches the per-vote reward has been giving us, and the fact that people will cheat it (or at least try) fairly often. Logged in is logged in, not much you can do to 'fake' that, and it'd really cut back on the QQ, if not eliminate it (it's never eliminated...lol).

Maybe slightly offtopic, but let's go...

Yeah the Powersaves are one thing that encourage leaving your game open through the night. But those rewards then shouldn't be transferrable, or we'll probably have a lot of multi accounting. Might be a good encouragement though. Oh and the milestones :)

The number of players logged in can also be manipulated I understand. I have heard of one UO shard owner who apparently uses VPN to log in multiple chars in order to boost the count of who is online.. might be just gossip but it does suggest that their is quite a bit of competition between shards for increasing their account numbers.
I have tried a few other shards and for me Excelsior RULES!!

Value per time span without transferability. Hmm.

Add an "Excelsior Cosplay T-Shirt," an any-age quest reward not much more difficult than Dinja's Crystals. Shirt slot. Account-bound upon acquisition. One per account. Base shirt has +1 to each resist. It gains +1 to a random resist every 200 hours your account is logged on after acquisition. Eventually maxes at 70-all after 8 years of login time. :D
