At the end of fall, this was an ice room. A frozen palace. A play pretend treasury of things that never move and never change. It was time to be Battled and Bled, and I was Queen of the Red.

At the end of winter, my heart bade I thaw, and I emptied the room. The statues and symbol remained, reduced from demigods of Holy Color to blank slates awaiting stain. It was time to be Tried and True, and I was Queen of the Blue.

At the end of spring, I escaped my escape, and took shelter within a hidden fortress. A forest overgrew my bed in my absence, and the rabbits scattered my clothing. It was time to be Untethered and Mellow, and I was Queen of the Yellow.

At the end of summer, I lost my crown, and returned as no one. I cleared the clutter. I tossed the furniture. I painted the roses. I gave things away. I let go of the past. I celebrated the now. It was time to be --- hey!
