Relayer question

Howdy,

From reading the wiki I understand that nothing in the "weapon hits" category will be effective on a relayer. They still show up but the game doesn't apply them to your attack.

I've also heard (missing from the wiki) that nothing in the "resistances" menu is effective on a shirt relayer. The resists are masked by the resists of the armor chest piece worn over it.

I've also heard that Spell Channeling is useless on anything but a weapon or shield, and that mage armor has no effect on a relayer (relayers are meditable regardless).

Are any of these incorrect?

Are there any other major gotchas to relaying? Other attributes that don't apply in particular slots?

As far as I understand it,

Weapon hits will not be effective if they are not ON the weapon. So a shirt with hit fire area will be useless.

The resistances on a shirt most certainly do add to your total resistances. Or any relayed piece.

Yes spell channeling shoes or belt will not do anything. Some items will not be medable (allow passive mediation mana bonus). Even if they are Spell channeling, they'd have to be mage armor. But clothing is all medable. Only plate, chainmail, and studded leather are not medable.

i am not sure about a chest armor will ignore shirt , but if you wear a cloth on armor slot (relayer?) and a shirt, both pieces add up together.

Interesting. Thats rather silly for it to do that, IMO.

Does the same interference occur with kilts and leggins? or Boots and leggins?

What items qualify as cloth on the chestpiece slot? Just the cloth ninja jacket?

i have a goc chest piece and a cloth shirt relayer and the shirt doesn't cancel out the goc resists.

are you getting both resists?

I've asked in game and multiple players have told me they are wearing shirts with resists and chest pieces over top of them and they get both resists.

I'm being told by more players in game that it only takes resists from the top layer.

I don't know either way, but I think I'm not going to have any resists on my relayered shirt.

I have a doublet relayer over top of my goc chest. The doublet has almost no resist (10 fire) yet i still have all 70s.

This isn't the first time this has come up. The ultimate gist of it seems to be: You don't get the resists of the underlayer even though the resists might still show up on your character status window.

I'm not sure this is true, but quite a lot of heavily relayered vets have claimed to have tested this and seem to think it's true.

I myself have not been able to find out because I relayered my omni into a shirt. Seemed the best compromise.
