We spent entirely too much time responding to these constant economy threads. They pop up frequently, and everyone spams their ideas - which we do read. As I've said before, in every danged one of these threads - we are working on finishing our current projects (and each facet will help to boost the economy in their own ways). Once those are done, we'll take another look at how things are going with the overall economy and see what's needed. However, until the facets are in, there's not really any point in screwing around with the shard economy - since who knows what it'll be like once those are out. The impact they have on the economy could be significant, and until we know, there's no use stopping what we're already working on to try and putz around with something that in all likelihood will work itself out most of the way, once these are done.

All economies go through ups and downs, it's just part of life. An economy like ours here on uoex is very fluid, and can change drastically in a matter of months. So, as always, yes we are aware of your collective complaints/grievances/issues. And no, we're not going to do much about it quite yet, but if adjustments are deemed necessary by the staff at a later point, then we will make them. Everybody just needs to keep their pants on and their economic-based-gripes to a minimum in the mean time :)

Good points, sounds like a fix is worth exploring.

You have been here barely a week, so you probably are not aware that there was just one of these same kinds of threads about 2 weeks ago. And another one a month or so before that, and one awhile before that, and so on into infinity. We see them all the time, and it's always essentially the same complaints with folks replying to throw out ideas/suggestions (usually the same ones, reworded) until the thread eventually dies.

Now, remember - we are volunteer staff, and it's a free shard. Reading these threads this often just makes me not want to do anything about it because it's irritating as heck to interrupt my day replying to them, only for people to completely ignore what I'm saying and continue to get riled up over the economy. The constant negativity and "fix it fix it" gets old, particularly when there are still plenty of things going along just fine in the game, and we've already stated a bajillion times we will be working on it.

On top of that, there's no actual fix for the economy. There just isn't. This is a shard in which each person's main character can be everything. That means that any demand we try to create will be much, much lower over time, because everybody can just do it themselves instead of buying it from someone else. Only the folks who have an excess of gold and a lack of motivation will really go buy things from other people. This majorly dampens the economy right off the bat, so it's always going to be an economy in particular flux, there will always be drastic ups and downs dependent on the mood and type of active players. For awhile there a year or two ago we had a large number of those types of players who were good at farming gold, and would rather buy things than gather/make it themselves. The economy was in a pretty great place at that point. Then we got a flood of players who were in the 'gimme gimme' mentality, they didn't want to pay much for anything, so they mostly did for themselves - and then we began a swoop into the way the economy is now.

Basically, constantly trying to micromanage the economy, constantly worrying about it, getting upset over it - it is a complete waste of everyone's time. There are things that need attention, and we have already said hundreds of times, we are working on it and will give it even more love after the facets are open and we can see how they impact the shard's economy themselves. Crafting will get a significant amount of updating, as will pets/breeding. So, these threads popping up every few weeks just ends up being a waste of time and frustrates the staff because we've already said we're working on it and we've already read everyone's input (and rarely are any actually new ideas ever posted in these things, it's generally just the same ideas someone else has posted before many times). It'd be nice if folks just held their horses awhile and let things play out instead of constantly starting these same threads. *Lundberg voice* that'd be grrrrrreaaaattt....

tl;dr-
Staff = working on it. Everyone locate their towel and chillax in the mean time. :)

You have to have much better stats on the starter weapon to make up for the lost points, but it's just a question of numbers. Each extra attribute point the crafted weapon starts with versus the max you find on a looted weapon times the number of spending points that attribute point costs.

Tough to beat the specials for an Ultimate Weapon (i.e. your 4x40+ stuff) but I figure a starter for a relayer might be more likely. Resists are worth 5 spending points each. With your +5 Blacksmith gear and +60 smithy hammer, can you craft something with 40 more resists than a looted starter for a relayer?
