Rules on Paragons

Post by Viirin »

So, I thought I'd figure out exactly what goes on with paragons here on Excelsior.

I know on OSI, only certain monsters (ones that drop maps) can drop named treasure chests with a map 1 level higher than the monster would have dropped, inside the chest.

But I saw a chest at someone's house with "Recovered from a Patchwork Skeleton" on it. Those don't spawn there- that has to be a necromancer's raise dead summon, right? So I wondered if *anything* has the chance to spawn as paragon, and paragons have a low chance to drop a chest, no matter what they are, just the chance is low.

I designed my house originally to house every treasure chest possibility as a tutorial/bestiary/collection hall, but I thought I'd find out more since I haven't gotten very far with it. That way I also know what I should be doing to slaughter the right paragon/s.

IIRC, patchwork skeletons can be found beyond the spider cave near the bone beetle.

Patchwork Skeletons also spawn inside of doom. They are not ONLY a necro summon

Ah, okay. But I didn't think they dropped maps. On this shard, can all paragons drop chests, or is it only map-bearers?

I do a lot of paragon hunting and the lowest creature I got a chest from was the patchwork skeleton and earth elemental. I may have gotten one from a ratman, but I can't remember. I have gotten artifacts but no chests from creatures like imps, hell cats and dire wolves.

If you want to find a rare paragon chest for a collection, try getting one from a Rotting Corpse. I think I have but I can't find it, so I may have given it away, as I am prone to do that.

Although I haven't received an artifact, as far as I know, from a skeleton or zombie, I am sure it is possible.

Good luck in your collection.

So far, the only artifact I got from a paragon was from a skeleton- the paragon balrons, elder gazers, lich lords, blood elementals, and succubi didn't wanna give me one.

I want a full collection of paragon chests :)
The ones I'm working on now are ore elemental chests, but I don't know if it's possible to get one off them. I fought a couple paragon Blaze Elementals but didn't get anything special off them... yet

My understanding is that Paragons are one of the few things that luck has a decent effect on.

Last I had heard luck has an effect on Tokumo artifact drops and on Paragon artifact drops, I don't know if it has any effect on Paragon Chest drops. A lot of people here get confused when people talk about luck.

I frequently see people making the mistake of confusing the actual stat LUCK with the plain old aspect of being LUCKY being referred to as luck. Doom Gauntlet is a prime example of this.

I forgot to mention that you can also get a chest from the paragon vampire leader in Malas.

I have gotten chests from:
Leader of Vampires (Malas)
Balrons
Ancient Wyrm
Earth, Fire, Blood, Acid, Poison Elemental
Lich, Lich Lord
Stone Gargoyle
Evil Mages
Succubus
Titan
Cyclops
Patchwork Skeleton

Monsters that may drop but I haven't seen or can verify (and I have been here quite a while):
Rotting Corpse
Ettin
Troll
Gargoyle
Ice Elemental
Ratmen
Skeleton, Skeleton Knight
Sphynx (I doubt it will)
Bone Dragon
Any paragon in Twisted Wield (only got an artifact from Dire Wolf)

There are many other lesser mobs that become paragon but I do not think they will ever produce a chest.

when i first started playing here my brother was a player as well "Tennebrae"

Id find him in the strangest of places one time he told me he was trying to get a paragon tropical bird chest..

I asked how many times he killed them I think his answer was "so far 547"

dedication, doubt it ever would but I suppose you never know unless you try
