Especially given the fact there are text warnings literally everywhere about the quest being failable & closed till the following year in the event of failing.

Because some of us are old and when our bodies say "Hey Neve! I gotta go to the bathroom! You go hide or something... no no no don't go that way! Nooooo! ... Too late. You better just leave that character there and go to the bathroom Nooooow! Who cares if we waste 10 minutes or so.... depending on what I want to do. I'm in charge, you know that. Once you passed that certain birthday, "all your base are belong to us... "... er me! Mwahahahaha! Oh and I might tell you I'm finished and then as soon as you come back to the computer, guess what? PSYCHE!"

Um... yeah. *LOL* And since there is no way to hide inside the tunnel, safely away from the quest giver (which I am so glad no hiding in the tunnel! So much fun! hehe) I just had to hope I didn't go the wrong way to safely go afk. :)

Respectfully requesting a rule change, if not for this year then for next:

Run the quest as many times as you want, but give out the reward only once per player each year.

Life interrupts, as life is wont to do. It's a real bummer when that ends the chance at the reward for the year.

I disagree with this proposal. its not designed as a "play till you get the cookie" quest nor should it be. Cheapens the victory when it finally happens.

It is not a change I will make. Either you succeed at the quest this year or you do not, and the reward is good enough to reflect the difficulty and the risk. This is something everyone will need to get used to for the facets, there will be many quests that have the possibility of failure. I don't believe in making all things with excellent rewards "play till you win". Not everyone needs to have everything that everyone else has, and not everything needs to be attainable by every player right away. I designed the quest this way, the reward was allowed to be as nice as it is because of the way the quest is designed, and after four years I am still happy with it.

+Nyx and shardies,

Just an idea on temporary quest items - We have been focused on the idea of changing the gump that would issue a warning about receiving a temporary quest item. Instead, maybe we can do something that is similar to the peerless spawning system we have at say, Paroxysmus. This way we can make sure the player is fully aware that they are spawning the boss and that there is a time limit when you deposit the 'key' (quest item) into to box that would spawn the boss. (provided the intention of the timer is only to limit the time of our battle with the boss) We already have a similar system in place (eg. at Travesty) where player gets booted after 15/20minutes after using the keys.

I'm not sure how easily this can be done but i think this would complement the systems we already have in place - the fences together with warning messages in the info section of each quest book that give us the heads up should, otherwise, be more than enough! :)

10 minute internet drop.
2/3rds of the way through the Grinch.
Returned just in time to rez and be kicked out.

Man that bites.

Oh well, bring on x-mas 2016.

yeah what exactly hurts is not that the quest is too difficult for you, is that some accidents or mistakes "kill" a year of u. For most new players who are not really prepared for this difficulty, a hundred times of chances would not really change anything, but for me, 1 more chance is just enough.

Actually what really hurt was the beer really sucked.

First time I ever contemplated pouring one down the sink.
