Finally someone with a new char knows what I’m talking about and speaks up...

Do you have a problem with talking about this?? if yes why? I am bring up something that I don't like in the game and your trying to shut me up... If someone is complaining or saying something about the game that you don’t like that’s your problem. Why don’t you stop and see how many talk about it!+Rayne wrote:+Rayne wrote: We have already posted about the Corpse Stone price. The real price was never meant to be 2500 or 5k. Just because not many reapplied to this topic doesn’t mean anything how many that play on this server really come here and post I would say a lot less then 40% or even less
Do you ever watch how many use the stone lots I don’t know what dream land your in but everyone was using it for a lot of reasons. There is a lot of places that when you zone in you die within seconds the server has a lot of places that are not meant for a single player problem is it doesn’t tell you before entering! So what you just said is full of it and you might play that way but then how much do you know about the game? Not everyone is a pro at playing UO.+Rayne wrote:but one should not need to use the Corpse Stone but in the most dire of times if one plays responsibly.

TheUnknown,
First off, I'd like to say that I understand the difficulties of being a new player and comming into a shard where there is alot of already established wealth. Also, I would like to say that while your posts are passionate...they are rapidly approaching combative to other shard members (and an admin) who are taking the time to talk with you and give you ideas on safe hunting on this shard. Like everyone else, I started the shard with nothing. Instead of going straight to hunting right as soon as I used my skillball, I took my first two weeks to work on/macro my skills necessary for hunting. Within those two weeks I also must have escorted about 1000 NPCS for 500-800 gold per escort. I also spent hours upon hours in Tram Destard (rez outside), and once I had a semi-decent Cu Sidhe, I started killing Balrons (again, rez right outside)...which I died to over and over and over again. I didn't even set foot into Fel until I was with a group of other older players who went to kill MOA, and even then...that had a rez stone about 10 seconds away. Point being...If you plan on hunting in those dangerous areas, scan the area for closest rez stone/healer. If there arn't any close by, or you are dying, then save the place as something to work toward, and move back to another decent gold farming area (blood, destard). I would also recommend spending 5 minutes to write a very simple razor macro to train your stealth and hiding up to GM over night...those are key to alot of corpse recovery missions...
Ultimately, everyone dies and loses stuff when they are new. That's the game. But, it's your responsibility to use whats available and prepare for what/where you are hunting. Six hunderd gold is not alot of money to pay to ensure your main weapon and main armor pieces when you are hunting in new areas, and cancel insurance renewal when you are in an area that occasionally kills you, but you know where to rez.

I am also a new player, and to be honest the high price of the corpse stone just means a small change in playstyle (as Licos said).
On the up-side, it promotes people helping each other so it cant be all bad.
My two cents

ok so I am pretty much sick of this whining... and ima lay it out.
#1, don't you even dare be rude to staff, let alone admin on the shard. they work their butts off to keep this place up, and to give us TONS of extras that we wouldn't have. ask your parents what respect means.
#2, why dont you stop arguing and start reading what people are actually saying: giving advice, informational links, etc.
#3. if you spent less time griping and more time playing you would reap the benefits of the info people are providing you with.
#4, if you dont like it then just don't play here. it's a great setup and full of fun, and if you refuse to see that, then what's the point of even hanging around and posting, unable to take advice? Everyone has been a new player. You should use common sense when you play and like +rayne said, if you play smart you will hardly ever need to use the stone. So for the love of God either take people's advice and play, or just scoot along. You're just wasting Kb's with your arguments. And i know i'm sick of repeating the same info.
#5, who is your player char?

Re: Sell your house to claim your body
I never once ask for anyone help on how to play the game on this thread. I’ll take your advice
The corps stone should be for new players and players that are new to the game, if you have a char that can hold his/her own grate then you shouldn’t need to use it but then you leave the newb’s to fend for them self. And not be able to gather stuff because when the die and have no gold they have no choice sometimes to take all that as a loss.
So who does the corp stone favour?!? the rich or the poor.
So I’ll play else where seem like the admin don’t want to hear in any format what players are saying and when someone says something they jump on him/her and shut him up. I see now why all my friends left the shard I didn’t see it because “I don’t play for gold”. but now I see why they left. Server might have a good setup but when they keep changing it that’s when it sucksLlexa wrote: if you don’t like it then just don't play here.

Enjoy your new shard.

Re: Sell your house to claim your body
I would much rather you stay and enjoy yourself here, but if you feel this is not the place for you, then I wish you the best of luck on your shard endeavors. I hope you will be able to find something just as wonderful as Excelsior.

Re: Sell your house to claim your body
Gosh i really hate to add to the fire. but do you go out in real life unprepared? no i didn't think so. so why would you think you could in a game? All comes down to is tactics and preparation. Don't need to be a millionaire either if your skills are good then you don't need to use the stone at all. i think i have used it 3 or 4 times max and have been here a year. so get in the training room do your skills and stop relying on the things that are here to make the game to easy.

Re: Sell your house to claim your body
Well i've been reading this thread and waited for it to evolve...
About the stones.
- Corpse stone - not present on OSI. Just on a few freeshards. It's supposed as a last resort if you cant get to your body. Still much better to get your stealth up and you go back to your body yourself. Also know that even if it would be free, in case you would get disconnected it wouldn't help. Also if you die in a place with monsters that loot your corpse, it wouldn't help.
- Get followers stone - I haven't seen this stone on any other shard. I scripted the one we have here, it was because when i was still a GM, occasionally people asked staff to return their pets. We have a nice command [getfollowers, but it's used only in special situations, not like if you cant get to your pets in a dungeon.
Would also write another thing, but Ramious already wrote it now. When going out to face monsters, face danger, face death... one needs to get his backpack in order: leave things you won't use in your bank, and insure anything you don't want to loose.
The corpse stone right now is 20k gold. Which by my opinion is still too little, but ok. The old price of 5k was not intended (as +Rayne already wrote), it was changed sometime in the last 2 years and since I don't use the corpse stone i didn't notice it.
The main corpse stone at brit bank was set to 20k, but we forgot that there were others out there that could still be used at the low price. So, just a few days back I changed them all to the "new" price (real price). Maybe that's why this was posted at this exact time? TheUnknown, which corpse stone were you using?
As for the balance of the shard... by the word balanced, we mean that there's no "just one thing" that brings in 5x as much gold per hour as other things. Or one uber pet that can kill anything, and the only way to be competitive with other players is to have that pet.
There will always be richer and poorer people. But know that all of those rich players that even buy decorations at auctions for a few million gold, once came to the shard on a llama with 30k gold in their pack.
P.s.: Usually players with lots of money already have some items blessed, they surely have the other items insured, so if they die they just loose minor stuff. And i don't understand why you need 6k gems with you, maybe you could go to the bank every half an hour, empty out the gold and gems and everything worth something, then head back to the dungeons. Unless if you're hunting in felucca, that takes just a minute.

Re: Sell your house to claim your body
I have read this whole thread and wish to interject an opinion. I don't mind paying the 60K and yes i have used it quite a few times. I think though it is hard to get from Fel back to the corpse stone if you are dead. If perhaps there were an ankh, healer, corpse stone closer it would help? I mean I died once at Fel moonglow to a creature I didnt even know existed at the time....a freak of nature called the Eidelon and by the time I got back to Britain in tram to get my body because i could find no healer or ankh anywhere near Moonglow ((and believe me I scoured it)) my body was gone. I was stupid enough to go to fel Moonglow without insuring so that was my bad. I ended up losing 18th level levelable kriss that I had put a spell channeling deed on and the uber gold armor that Llexa had made me.
Basically what I am saying if there were more ways to heal in Fel then people would not gripes as much about the price of the corpse stone because many times you have to go to the corpse stone from fel in the first place because there are very few ways to res there.

Re: Sell your house to claim your body
As a fellow newbie (4 days or so playing) I would say that the current set up is fine. At first I thought 60K was HUGE money but after a while you realise that its meant to be only used in desperate situations. If your unsure of where to go, what to kill then ask. That is all I did and I generally got an answer straight away. I recommend getting stealth as pointed out earlier as you will be able to retrieve your body much easier. I would also make sure to "insure" your important items. You might think this is un-needed but honestly its just a back up for you.
People will help but you shouldn't just run around without asking, especially as a newb. If I want to explore new dungeons I put all my stuff in the bank and go naked. That way the risk is minimal. I would say concentrate on getting some strong pets by either breeding or if you ask nicely, fellow players will give you a pet or two. Things are alot less dangerous when your at the back healing the pets who are fighting for you.
I know it can be frustrating to begin with but after a while things start coming together. Money will begin to flow, concentrate on your skills and make sure you have a few pets to do the dirty work for you and you wont go too far wrong. If in doubt, ask someone using [c. You might sound like a newb but everyone was the same as you.

Re: Sell your house to claim your body
Don't solo in dangerous places if you are new. Go with a couple friends so they can rez you instead of using corpse stone. In the slightly longer term develop the sacrifice virture and you can self rez. Do that and stealth to your body and you never have to ask for help. (ok almost never)
Ack! Natural Sunlight. I must flee to my coffin!!!
