It could happen....

Post by LongTom »

After taking this photo, making a remark in chat, ALL of the Ginseng on all of his vendors disappeared

I am really not sure what is going on. It may be just a "thing" but it sure seems, to a newbie, a bit nefarious ;)

Only one in the room. Logic showed up a few minutes later and i mentioned what was going on, but logic ignored me and kept buying whatever he was buying. Why do you look for a simplistic "reason" rather than actually ask questions? You're either bored or, by chance, are taking advantage/benefiting from the issues that seem to focus on this cluster of vendors?

Seems off, whichever the answer is.

I am sure you read the codex when you joined original poster, although you didn't mention him by name you came as close to public blacklisting as you can get, I am sure a + would be more likely to tell ya just how close.

regardless I don't recommend you mining this thread much longer
you're gonna have a bad time

Who are you talking about yoda? I didnt blacklsit anyone, nor am I "mining". I was pretty clear in that I saw an issue, and based on how aminol acted the last time i mentioned an issue with the same vendors, I made sure I have a photo this time. I think mild trolling should be vacated when there is a genuine concerned, but it seems to be overlooked as well, which is all Aminol is doing...on both topics. His choice, their choice of tolerance, but again, my concern has not been addressed or answered, only dismissed...again

I'll just refrain posting about issues I am confused by

Feel free to ask questions if you are confused. However, please do understand that you might not like or agree with the answer that is given, whether it is accurate or sarcastic. Sometimes they are the same answer. Also realize that several times a year, a new player will come on and tell everyone, quite loudly, what is wrong with this shard and how it would be better if it was: like the shard they used to play on, used to run, were a GM on, etc. ad nausium. This shard is highly customized and it takes a while to wrap your head around everything. Some things work and make sense, some will make more sense in the future (fingers crossed). The +'s here listen and take our input and then do what they will to make things fun and try to please as many peeps as possible. There are a LOT of folks who will help and answer questions if someone keeps a sense of humor about things and takes them for what they are. Control what you can and roll with the rest. There are many ways to "skin a cat" here. And try to enjoy our small corner of the internet.

Players will move from vendor to vendor while in stealth. I know I have. I also performed circuits where I would buy from every vendor that sold them till they maxed out to 999. Then I would buy reagents at nearly 1,000 at a time till I got what I needed. Of course, after you buy, there is a period that the vendor will not display that reagent. I think it is about 20 minutes or so. According to your description, that is what looked like happened. Nothing nefarious. Just a player moving about in stealth so they aren't waylayed by a conversation or whatever reason they wanted to remain hidden. You just happened to be there at the right time to notice.

That is not what has happened or is happening. I've made no reference to anything of this past and this is the only shard I have played on since 1998.

I saw something I was unfamiliar with, and asked. I saw the same vendors restocking every 5 minutes, that scaled up to 7 minutes, posted it, with the same derp remarks and no intelligent response beyond silly remarks and declarations of my mental state, so it would appear at least 1 person gets his online kicks being that way

Thanks for the post. I spoke with a GM ingame who attempted to clarify since no intelligent answers were forthcoming up to that point. Yes, yours was and thank you

If I do not understand something, I will ask. I really do not expect more than potential positions unless a clear understanding, by others, is available. The repeated silliness by 1 person is enough to jade someone, so I will just ask staff ingame if I have questions or concerns

OK, I'll bite...

You said regs magically went poof, I said someone hiding bought them while you were doing something else (and I was backed by other people because that's a reasonable assumption). How exactly was my answer silly? Why is a simple answer a problem for you? Why do you get so defensive and apparently feel offended for no reason? And what was the correct answer you got from a GM?

If the regs were up to 999... that means somebody has been buying them every 20 to 30 minutes to max them out. If the regs "poofed" on you... somebody is still buying them.

You know there is a function in Razor and UOS to auto buy right, no need to open up the vendor and click plus till you make your selected amount. Just right vendor select buy and bam your done, this is whats happening here.

Every time i buy there (usually arrows or ginseng) I'll stand there hiding and every 20 minutes or so I'll buy all the arrows/ginseng. Don't see anything "nefarious" going on. All your photo shows is a vendor with 999 ginseng on it...

No clarification, just being a smartalec

Code: Select all

People use hiding/stealth all the time, you know.

And again.
That was an answer with clarification, actually helpful
Why do you get so defensive and apparently feel offended for no reason?
Because your intent is to be a flippant smart alec, not be helpful. there is no offense by my view, jsut annoyance that someone who knows what is happening, could throw out 2-3 lines and actually help someone understand, rather than 1 liners with the apparent desire to be smug. No, your last post clarified how you are, in the other thread, so please do not go "Where do you see me being smug, i just gave a vague answer/remark/non-helpful post".
I do all of my shopping hidden to avoid beggars and idiots.
I've not seen a beggar on the server yet, myself. I see people who are confused, but i would hardly call them idiots. I'm not jaded, on the whole either, so maybe I see less when it comes to personality traits that are displayed by posts in the game
You know there is a function in Razor and UOS to auto buy right,

No, I did not.

As I said, a GM clarified what they figured happened, and I posted such. I would assume the topic would be dead. Maybe with so few topics, riding the latest keeps things fresh

Ok, looks like I need to step in here.

1) Just because you didn't like the way someone answered you, doesn't make it incorrect.
2) Text is often hard to interpret, because it doesn't convey tone of voice, inflection, facial expressions, and other things that change the meaning of how something is intended.
3) You can't control who answers a forum post, or how they do. If you're going to complain about answers you dislike, you can avoid the situation and send a help request like I also suggested to you.
4) We consider blacklisting or speaking negatively about another player or staff here a bad thing, and it could end with a chat ban or jail time.

Please remember, these are two rules everyone agreed to by logging in.
c. No drama. Accept the things you cannot change. If you are in an unresolvable conflict, be the smart one and walk away. Keep the private problems out of public chats, send a private message instead.
d. If you are in a situation with another player that won't go away by itself, don't go make it worse for yourself by doing something against the rules. Let the staff know, we have experience with this.
I'm locking this topic.
