What's your "circle of transparency" set at? Do you leave it that way all the time or change it? How frequently do you change it? I typically only turn it on when I''ve redesigned the architecture and must move a newly hidden item, or to do yardwork behind a west or north wall, then turn it back off. How about you? Why do you use it, or why don't you? And in game setting, not real life. Although if you have a real life circle of transparency setting I'd like to hear about that too.

always on and set at 200 set any lower and its not much help except right at your feet. main time i use it is when im house hunting and some ummm not smart people set their houses to private so i can see some of whats inside to see if anything worth campin when the time comes....i mean seriously "private"??? whats the point..lmbohbo
I keep a gun because I'm too young to die and too old to take an ass whoopin! just cause you aint paranoid doesnt mean they aint after you

I used to always set to public, but recently have been setting the personal plots to private. It may not prevent circle of transparency, but it keeps people from racing across the lawn or intruding.dreamstalker wrote:and some ummm not smart people set their houses to private so i can see some of whats inside to see if anything worth campin when the time comes....i mean seriously "private"??? whats the point..lmbohbo
But yeah that's precisely what I was investigating by this question. How is it private when anyone can just shift-tab and view all the item names? You can read books from outside the house. Or how is it private when anyone can just run around with a circle of transparency on and see inside all the floors at once? Even with a yardwork gate around the furthest edges there's still no way to prevent a 200-wide circle from seeing nearly all the contents of the plot within (if it's a single). One of mine is a 15x15 and after experimenting I could only get a 4x4 area in the southeast off-center that wouldn't show up in transp.
Today I packed up an entire house into a couple stronger boxes, thinking to just clear out inventory and keep everything of personal value in the bank. At least when you drop the stuff in your bank doesn't lay around the yard for everyone to come pillage through, it vanishes with you. I'm bummed people are just racing past my house to check the sign to see if it's gonna drop, rather than what its name is and who made that beautiful vision, and then circling it like sharks to find out if there's any goodies to be gained by my death, rather than casually lingering around to possibly meet and make friends with such an obviously cool person. I mean, I do bite, but not that hard. It'll only take ~50 salutation attempts and a few dozen roses, of Trinsic, and dyed, before I might return the "Hail"... and then bite.
But thank you for responding and answering my curiousity!

When I use it, it is at 200. It becomes a distraction at times, so I will turn it off. I use it for several reasons. I don't like containers cluttering up my house so I will "hide" them along walls. The only way to see them is with COT. Some treasure chests spawn against walls, so I will use it then. And like Dreamstalker, I use it to see if a house close to collapsing is worth exploring.

I use it rarely, and at 50. I used it to find things behind the walls at my house.

I use it. It's usually around 100 but I change it as needed.
