The Trinsic Raffles

Post by Jantra »

A question, since I couldn't find the answer. Has there been any sort of discussion on a time frame on players winning multiples on the ticket raffles in Trinsic? I've been happily putting in tickets for a while now, but it's very discouraging when I see the same player winning multiple items in a row.

Maybe this has been discussed before or isn't a big deal, just was curious what people's thoughts were on the topic.

It's a money sink for whales. It works as intended.

There's even been reports/claims of cheating, thought I've reviewed the logs and odds 2 times, and it's all working as intended. If someone buys 30% of the tickets, they will be winning 30% of the time... yeah, works as intended.

It would be possible to put a cap on how many tickets a single player can buy, but that would defeat the main purpose, to sink as much gold as possible... and also some would then buy through friends, etc, probably best to keep it simple as it is.

I see what you mean by that, +C. I was really surprised to find out today that the items you win from the auction could be sold, which for the things that are common (+10 level deed, stuff like that) doesn't surprise me but the more custom items do. If they buy 30% of the tickets, win, and turn around to sell it for way more than they bought it for.... doesn't it kind of work against the idea?

But maybe it's just how I'm seeing things. I guess from the reply above yours and how I've seen the grand auctions, it's just kind of an accepted thing. XD

The raffles were never intended to be won by the person only spending 10k-100k on an item the is clearly worth millions.

Example, the current 100ED raffle. That easily worth over 5 million gold. If you only buy 50k with of tickets and win, DAMN you got lucky! But most likely the person that drips 4 million gold on tickets is gonna win. And if turns around and sells it for 5.5 million, yes he has made a profit, yes you paid a fair price for the item you wanted, and yes, 4 million in gold was sinked off the shard. As well as all the gold spent by those that didn't win.

I am a person that rarely wins those raffles also, so I understand the frustration, but I also understand the need for them to continue as is.

On that same 100ED raffle, someone that drops 4 million on it still only has a remote chance of winning. It's based on the total number of tickets and with a player base around 250-350 it's still quite a stretch.

Maybe the solution would be to show the number of tickets bought so far for that specific item. Maybe that would help?

thats good to hear i dont mind losing to people that get lucky or just buy a ton of tickets but i was starting to think code was glitched somehow.

All the above posts in this thread were done while I was at work today. And be it fate, luck, or whatever. I got home tonight, logged in, and guess who won the 100ED raffle.

Me. And I think I only bought like 4 tickets max.

It can happen.

Ive almost always bought 10 tickets of each and ive never won except a few weeks ago i bought 1o tickets and won the 120 any PS goes for 200 ED in ed room (way over priced) and i ended up selling it for 50ED. so it could happen and most people who are winning are reselling them.

I like the idea of knowing how many tickets are bought to know my odds a little.

Like the token auction i won it 4 times in a row but i spent like 100k-200k tokens each time i dint realy make alot off it when i won but i held 90% of the tickets cuz you know how many tickets were sold.

so with that said,

Showing how many tickets were sold will either boost sales or shrink sales.

lets use 100 ED raffle value 5mil so at 10k per ticket thats 500 tickets

If player A buys 250 tickets and player B buys 250 tickets, that pays for the 100ED

Now if player C comes buy and sees that 500 tickets have been bought he might make the decision that buying 10 tickets is to low of a chance to win and not buy any but player D thinks he don't know how many people bought tickets just that there is 500 tickets sold he buys 400 tickets just knowing he has a high chance of winning.

but on the other hand if lets say almost no one has bought any real amount of tickets lets say 10 people bought 10 tickets. Im sure this has happened and one of them wins only spending 100k Great profit.

so lets say 10 people bought 10 tickets each and there is like a hour left on raffle someone would know that if they bought 100 tickets they would have a 50% chance of winning.

so with all that said I don't know how it would turn out.

It would be cool to see before and after change sales, see if there is a big difference in sales.

Perfect response. It is a great gold sink. I drop millions on the raffles for the good things and always have 10 or so tickets in everything. I win sometimes. Most of the time Fist does. So for everyone that has never won a raffle, be thankful that many players are sinking millions of gold into these stones reducing inflation, making your every day purchases more affordable.

I also raised showing the number of entries as I seemed to have an extended run of poor luck, but ended up agreeing with the sentiment that this would most likely make people shy away from buying more tickets.

Would it help if the number of tickets bought by each person were made public after the raffle? It would let the player base know how much gold is being sunk.

Even if only is made public the whole number of gold gathered, you can make some math, to check if i spent 10 millions on that raffle and it got like 500 mill, ok it's fair. it should give you an idea about how much tickets are spent to not be success.

Fist i envy you a lot you're making me bankrupt.
